Les Alexander said it after the draft. NBA players who use to give him the eye (always wondered how LA knew what the eye meant) no longer would look his way. We got no Howard love. Before that no love from Bosh or James. Pau didn't want to become a Rocket. There was no bounce in Houston. Yeah, its ridiculous to enter a season with a roster this poorly formed. It's 11 wings, no centers, no point guards. We may be the first team to try an all forward back court (White and Parsons). But none of that is relevant. What we are now is the worst team in basketball. What we hope to be is reloading with two top five picks next season complimenting our three mid firsts this season and our mid firsts from last season. This is going to be painful to watch. But no more so than another 45-37 just missed the playoffs kind of year that we have had since Yao went down and Tracy proved average at best. You can hate on Morey all you want ... but he tried like hell to rebuild without the crash ... only to have the market prove to him that crash was the only way to reinvent the franchise. We got unlucky. Yao didn't last. Tracy didn't live up to expectation. Stern didn't want the Lakers to be loaded for bear for the future. And Howard would rather wearing a dancing bear outfit than play in Houston. Morey may have lost his mind in chasing Asik and Lin (who will never become a Rocket). But today's Lowery trade simply proves that the plan was to get worse, much worse, so that we have the opportunity of becoming better. Those of us who watched the Rockets in Hofheinz Pavillion (Billy Paultz anyone) have been exposed to really bad basketball before. Now is the time to test your fandom. 10 wins. Yeah baby. That's Rocket basketball in 2013.
If they are indeed going to tank .... Im fine with it. Ive been a Rockets fan since the 70's ... seens some really bad ball played , wont stop me from watching. Thats a good description - the market proved them wrong .... and that a crash was inevitable , just wish it didnt take so damn long for Les to get the memo - pending he did.
Peter Vecsey: Donation of Lowry to Toronto gives Houston ample room 2 fit Orlando Magic into its cap. At very least, creates enough room to take DH & Hedo
You are WRONG. The Rockets are NOT and WILL NOT EVER tank. Get that through your minds. This has and always has been about Dwight Howard. The Rockets want to trade for him. They know he wants out of Orlando. The truth is they are swinging for the fences.
ive been wanting the rockets to tank since the yao mcgrady era ended. if we had tanked earlier we would have had a chance with anthony davis. instead we delayed the inevitable because les didnt want to rebuild & now we are just starting. the nba does not reward mediocrity, something the rockets have for close to a decade now. they only reward total tank jobs. how do you think okc got durant & westbrook or cleveland w/ lebron, the spurs w/duncan? give morey a high end draft pick & he will deliver. i mean he's been drafting talented players even though he's only had middle to late round picks. in morey i trust.
Hopefully they can flip Martin and Scola for a couple first rounders, tank the season by letting D12 sit out and recover from his back injury, then lure in a top FA like CP3. One can only hope.
there's only about a 1 percent chance Dwight will stay if we get him..... it just doesn't make much sense.
looking back on what Chase said after being traded sounded like a regurgitation of Morry somewhat informing him of this plan... very interesting...
Why would he want to come here? We don't have a PG, and even if Lin signs with us,it won't be enough. Dwight has a bad back and a bad attitude. He is not worth a rental, nor a long term contract IMO. Trading for him, is even worse than signing him out right.
Dwight doesn't have a choice...then next off season he would have to walk away from money or Maurey could S&T... #Puzzled
Some of you have lost it man. Gone crazy. Dwight Howard is now your only hope of redemption and you cling to it like its possible out of sheer desperation now. You got that Dwight Howard fever now. I am leaving this thread because its catchy and turns you into a raving mad loon with wild thoughts of it being possible he stays.
I'm sick of hearing that. The FA market hasn't work for Houston, not because of the city, but because most NBA stars or superstars want team up with someone better or close to their own level and win a ring. Also the locker room for the past two years has had the media, its GM and others keep talking about trading to grab a 'superstar' they don't trust a contract will keep you from being shipped. That being said, the move works.
