The clockspeed of your processor is spinning backwards due to the earth's gravitational pull, and it's slowing down all your megahurts.

    (lame joke, I know)

What do the rest of your PC specs look like?

when was the last time you did a reformat? That's the cheapest way to get it to run faster. you have 2 hds so backing up your stuff is no problem.

forgot to add an amd 3500+ (assuming that's what it is because i stopped reading tech news a while ago) is pretty fast already. we need a geekier bbser to come in here and break down the speed increase % to cost ratio if you added an extra gig of ram. if you're not doing a lot of multitasking, I wouldn't think 2gigs of ram will speed your pc up that much more than it is right now.

maybe your computer is just full of crap right now. reformat would do the trick if you're willing to go there.

yeah have a feeling a reformat may well be the way to go although the hassle of re-installing programs, profiles etc really gives me the sh!ts......

been finding firefox is chewing up alot of memory lately... like 150k..... did a google on this and then made the suggested changes to the config file....

also just put a new burner in, so took the time to clean the sucker out, the fans were very dusty......

now that i have the new burner, was having a few inconsistency with the other i will clear as much as I can and also un-install any prgrams i not using much, if not then i will try the reformat

While nothing is running, do a ctrl-alt-del and go into your task manager and check how much memory is actually being used. If is over 300M, you either have spyware, too much crap in your systray, or probably both.

If you have spyware, run spybot or something similar to get rid of it. If you have too much stuff in your systray, get ccleaner and remove those entries.

when's the last time you defragged your hard drives? Also, any virus scans done recently or maybe it's time to chk for ads and popups?

EDIT: hold ctrl/shift/esc to open up your task manager, and see what's eating up your memory.

Also, if you have been playing online games, etc, some of these games eat up your memory for awhile too, maybe you're just in for a reboot.... ;)
