Israel reportedly blew up a Hamas leader in Syria over the weekend.

I actually think this is the best way to fight terrorism, to simply do a surgical strike with a hit squad.

Anyone that is a terrorist is a target.

Actually, it seems that this is the only effective method...though I am not sure how effective it is.....my guess is very effective because it limits collateral damage.

I agree and this is one of the main reasons IMO to vote for Kerry. He favors surgical strikes by special operations over invasions of countries that have nothing to do with terrorism.

reportedly, the intelligence for the hit was supplied by an arab country...

and only andymoon could turn the assination of a hamas leader into an anti-bush harangue...

I wonder if Syria gave them the intelligence..they are probably very worried that their crappy little dictatorship is next on the agenda.

Inevitably, you would have turned it into an Anti-Kerry harangue. What's the difference?

Read again. I turned a DD comment into a pro-Kerry statement with a contrast between the way Kerry wants to do things versus the way Bush has done things.

    Nice spin, though.

Due process is not applicable to enemies of this country. Bag 'em.

Here's what you wrote: "...over invasions of countries that have nothing to do with terrorism."

Is that not a specific criticism of the Administration?

So you want to give this sonuvabitch a chance to manipulate our justice system against us? Screw that. The only due process I need for terrorists is the process of the JDAM following the steering signals from the GPS satellites to wax them in the caves, huts or whatever hellholes where they hide.

That was the second half of a contrast between Kerry and Bush. See it how you like, but if I had wanted to put forth an "anti-Bush harangue," it would have been much longer and wouldn't have mentioned Kerry at all.

My point which you only partially got was that who gets to determine who gets wacked. Are are vaulted intell responsible for making the call? Is that a high of enough bar to justify the killing?

Seeing how our intell did not get the WMD in Iraq right by a wide margin, I am uncomfortable letting them loose on the world, without any checks or balances. IOW, there is no due process to guarantee that the killing is justified.

Look, this is a perfect example of how Kerry has said, consistantly, that he would like to fight terrorism. He has also said that if a nation-state were to attack us, he wouldn't hesitate to respond with war. I think Andy brings up a good example of the differences between the 2 candidates regarding how to fight terrorism. That is what this is about, isn't it?

I much prefer Israel fighting their enemies this way. It saves civilian lives. If the terrorists are more concerned about watching their back, and their own safety, they are less effective. Kerry wants to double our number of Special Forces, and pour money into intelligence gathering. I wish he had been making the decisions pre-Iraq invasion and occupation. We might have fallen asleep during his speeches to the Nation, but the Nation would have been better off.

No doubt. However, it was a knock where you said there was none.

I came across that quote the other day from a long page of JFK quotes. Reading them while thinking about our current president made me queasy.
