Sorry about the thread but, I was just thinking, isn't this what happened last head at the deadline?? We were very active as we are thi year and were after Martin hard, then the the kings came out and said that they weren't shopping Martin at all and had bo interest in trading and then all trade rumors around kmart stopped, then at the deadline....BAM!!
People just need to chill out. Other teams DO want what the Rockets have. Something, more likely multiple trades will go down. None of it will likely be what anyone predicted -- never happens with the Rockets.
Yep. That's why I'm thinking we're going to come out with Danny Granger by the time the trade deadline is over. Morey has recent history in trading for players that we've shown moderate interest for in the past, and virtually no rumor in the days/weeks/recent months (that were reported/distributed by the media) leading up to trading for the player. Kevin Martin, Courtney Lee, Ron Artest... these trades came out of nowhere and pratically no one saw it coming. Morey like play his cards close to his chest. I'm hoping he can somewhere pull in Granger & Hibbert from Indy, in the same bandit-like style that he has displayed in the past.
I hope Morey somehow manages to get Curry, McGee, or Cousins. I doubt it but it would be nice. Only if we can't get anything that would greatly increase the chances of the Rockets making the playoffs this season.
If true, and I hope so, then there's no way we keep the trio of Scola, Hill, and Patterson. 2/3 of them are gone IMO, and it won't be their recently hand-selected PF of the future. Maybe another three-way trade, Nets-Sac-Hou?
Yeah i agree with you.. if Morey can pull that kinda trade off, I think we'll be on our way within the next couple of years. While Granger's and Hibbert's numbers arent spectacular, i think a lot of that has to do with coaching. Jim O'Brien was a horrendous coach and i highly doubt their talents were maximized on. If we end up with those 2, i wouldnt be surprised if we made a strong push towards the playoffs... gives us a closer type player, and a defensive big that's taller than 7'0ft.
Who knows what's going on, but likely scenario is that everyone is still throwing out more or less unrealistically one-sided proposals (the "hey, you never know if the other guy would stupidly agree so you might as well try" mode) right now. Closer to the deadline, and by that I mean within hours of the deadline, is when teams start to give their "last and best" offers and deciding whether to take or reject these. This is probably why every rumor so far (except the one trade that was made) is that "Team X don't want to trade Player Y" or "Team X asking too much."
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/25217/westphal-kings-in-significant-landry-talks They held him out...
This has been my prediction for the past couple of months.. I seriously believe Landry will be a Rocket at latest in this offseason. If it's a trade then i doubt it'll be straight up for him, but i also doubt we'll get cousins too.. it'll have to be a multiple team trade.. but anyway Landry will somehow be a Rocket again soon.. imo
