Why are all these thread so focused on paul, and everyone giving up the farm for him when Deron Williams is still a possibility in 2012? Less injury history, better scorer, less attitude, same level of stardom. I rather take williams.

Even if it were to have read 2011, i think Dwill would be less likely to leave than paul who clearly said "i want the knicks". even though the idea of having a Jazz guy in our colors makes me wanna kill myself, he seems a safer bet.

I think the main reason is because NJ aren't putting him on the block yet.

As for being a Jazz, he's the guy that forced Sloan out....

He wouldn't be the first ex Spazz player in our roster, so it's not so bad. Besides he'd be much, much, much better than the last guy. The last guy was pretty insignificant IIRC that I forgot his name.

Deron is not on the same level as Paul. Deron is a time to time all-star player while Chris Paul is one in a lifetime type of player.

Except for when they play eachother, and Deron consistently kicks Paul's ass all over the court...

    That's not even true.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=paulch01&p2=willide01

They score about the same, Deron shoots better but not as much as FG% indicates (Chris Paul takes and makes more free throws), Paul assists more, rebounds more, turns over less, steals more.

Criticize PER all you want, but you can't compare a career 19.0 PER to a 25.0 PER player. That's about the same as comparing Kevin Martin to Kobe Bryant.

You can't be serious. Did you even look at your link?

The assists and rebounds are virtually identical.

Chris Paul shoots 2 more freethrows.

And Deron shoots 53% compared to Pauls 42%...

AND DERON IS 12 and 4 AGAINST CHRIS PAUL...

    Thank you come again...

Yeah because basketball is not a team sport and the better point guard ALWAYS wins.

Those little things that Paul does better than Deron add up to make the complete picture to make Paul a dominant player over Deron. Like I said, you can't compare a career 19.0 PER player to a career 25.2 PER player.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com...um=1&p1=willide01&y1=2011&p4=paulch01&y4=2011

How can anyone think Deron is even comparable to Paul after looking at that page?

    Code:

    Rk Player From To G MP PER TS% eFG% ORB% DRB% TRB% AST% STL% BLK% TOV% USG% ORtg DRtg OWS DWS WS WS/48
    1 Chris Paul 2006 2011 425 15761 25.2 .571 .503 2.3 12.6 7.4 46.6 3.4 0.2 13.3 23.8 121 104 54.8 21.6 76.4 0.233
    2 Deron Williams 2006 2011 451 16088 19.0 .560 .506 1.7 9.2 5.5 42.2 1.5 0.5 16.6 23.3 114 110 35.8 11.5 47.3 0.141
Better PER (by a mile), TS%, Rebound %, Assist %, TO %, usage rate, ORtg, DRtg, OWS, DWS, etc...

You right. CP3 never had the players the caliber of AK47, Boozer or Okur that Deron had.

I'd trade everyone on our roster for either of them TBH though.

Agree with the stats thing, but please don't come up with dumb win/lose.

Posey is 10-8 vs. Lebron, he's a more valuable player now?

Kwame Brown is 7-4 vs. Dwight Howard, we should give him a max.

Paul is the type of player that you go all in for, not Deron Williams.

I would go all in for any of them.

    Both attract superstars, not Lowry.

It sucks but that's todays NBA for you.

Depends on what you see as "all-in". "All-in" to me means completely blowing up a team and giving away multiple draft picks to obtain, and there are only a handful of players in the league where that would be worth it: James, Howard, Durant, Paul, Wade, Griffin, Rose, and possibly Love if he can prove that last year wasn't a fluke and learns to play defense..

I agree with knote. DWill owned Paul almost every time they played. You can't only rely on stats on this one.
