We don't really have the means to sign him outright or to negotiate a S&T, but it would be nice.

Is Bibby making any noise this season? Isn't he also damaged goods with wrist injury?

If we really want to get a Premier PG- which I really dont think is the way this management thinks these days- Billups will be the option.

We will have to go the way Atlanta went- go all out and make sure that Pistons cannot match what we have. Which means going in to Luxury tax area- not happening any time soon.

The other options are to look for talent like Diener, Earl Watson, Luke Ridnour- which I am not sure is much of an upgrade. We sincerely need to consider the value of our Draft picks ( assuming we are going to be in playoff as a result of an upgrade) and atleast get more offense at PF spot.

If we stay pat- we should try V Span primarily for Passing and defense and leave the 3 point shooting to others ( luther would be the first option). Rafer cannot handle extended minutes and be consistent.

What? Luxury Tax has little to do with it. The Rockets are, and unless they make significant trades for expiring contracts, will continue to be over the salary cap. Even if Les was willing to go deeper into luxury tax land, we wouldn't be able to make that offer.

The only way to get a player like Billups is through trade, or sign & trade. And the Rockets have little, if anything, the Pistons would want in return.

At 10-13, I could potentially see the Kings being willing to part with Bibby, but aside from TMac, the Rockets have little to offer again. And trading TMac for Bibby might actually make some sense, though it would certainly make you cringe if you consider that you might have been able to get AI for a similiar type package.

Instead of a guy like Bibby which we have not chance at, we should be looking at a guy like Mo Williams. He's a free agent at the end of this season, and might be had for the MLE. Add in no state taxes in Texas and the potential for a shoe deal and/or other endorsements from China and we might have an edge.

    billups would be perfect.

if he tells the pistons that he will either sign with thier division rival's (bucks), or conference rivals (hawks) and leave them nothing in return...OR... to be nice he will let them S&T him to the rockets for tmac... i think the pistons go for the S&T.

I can't picture the Pistons trading for McGrady, between his back, his contract, and the fact that they already have Prince and Rip at the 2/3

I don't think Mo Williams can be had for only the MLE with the year he has had. Unless, he is a Yao fan like Bonzi and T-Mac. I do think Mo Williams would come at a better price/performance ratio than Bibby. He gives more flexbility for trades in the future to improve the roster.

Uh, Bibby has been awful this season. He could go back to form when his wrist fully heals, but he'll be looking for a big contract. Pass.

Bibby is fool's gold at this point. Do yourself a favor and compare his numbers from the past two seasons to those of Mike James then you can probably realize who the better player is at this point.
