By Mark Steyn Pamela Geller was struck by that ad The New York Times ran the other day, “It’s Time To Quit The Catholic Church“, an “open letter to ‘liberal’ and ‘nominal’ Catholics”. So she sent in her own ad, “It’s Time To Quit Islam“, an “open letter to ‘moderate’ Muslims”. Analogous artwork, same pitch, only difference being the intended target. The Times’ Senior Vice-President for Corporate Hogwash called to tell Miss Geller that – surprise! surprise! – they were way less eager to rush this one into print: Bob Christie, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for the New York Times, just called me to advise me that they would be accepting my ad, but considering the situation on the ground in Afghanistan, now would not be a good time, as they did not want to enflame an already hot situation. They will be reconsidering it for publication in “a few months.” So I said to Mr. Christie, “Isn’t this the very point of the ad? If you feared the Catholics were going to attack the New York Times building, would you have run that ad?” Thus the courage of the secular left: If you’re going to be “provocative”, it’s best to do it with people who can’t be provoked. Pamela is right. If you want to be treated with respect by The New York Times and the rest of the multiculti establishment, make it clear you’re willing to kill them. That’s an interesting message to send. Source
She seems to me like she is a giant troll. SHe has no room for compromise and would be the type of person that would be glad that 1 billion people would be exterminated because of their religious beliefs.
Because she wants to run an ad that was accepted in the same form for catholicism? Do you see her point?
No because of what she has done this past decade. She has a irrational fear of 2 billion people. She is a troll.
I do see the point actually. People might not like this stereotype, but from my personal experience anyways, people from the middle east that I know are a lot more sensitive and volatile. A lot of them can go from chill to kill in seconds. Now I'm not sure if it's a pride thing, or a religious thing, just a observation
Last time Pamela Geller was struck by something, some crazy mother****er read it and dozens of kids ended up dead in a summer camp off the coast of Norway. Just sayin...
So you have personally seen a middle eastern man go from chill to kill? So you are telling me you have witnessed a murder.
Anders Behring Brevik was (is) a self-declared protestant fundamentalist, who murdered 77 people as part of some bizarre-o neo-christian crusade to defend against excessive tolerance of the muslim hordes, after loading up on internet islamophobe crap. Was that the droid you're looking for, obi-brah? D'oh!
It's redundant and sets a precedent like the stupid ass back-and-forth threads that get started here, you don't need every whiny ****head asking to make retaliatory ads about whatever religion they don't like. Plus, Muslims are a minority here, and are predominately non-white; so there's probably a little unease about providing a platform for them to be attacked in that context. Considering the Catholic population in this country, the ad about them could be perceived as a bit more self reflection than persecution.
