I personally believe Yao would turn out to be the best draft pick from last three years drafts. Here is the list of top 10s from the past three years. If you are gonna do a draft from all these players, who would you pick?

2002 (might turn out to be one of the best, if not THE best draft class in history):
    Yao Ming
    Jay Williams
    Mike Dunleavy
    Drew Gooden
    Nickoloz Tskitishvili
    Dajuan Wagner
    Maybyner "Nene" Hilario
    New York
    Chris Wilcox
    Amare Stoudemire
    Caron Butler

2001(too unpredicatable, due to the 5 high schoolers here):
    Kwame Brown
    Tyson Chandler
    Pau Gasol
    Eddy Curry
    Jason Richardson
    Shane Battier
    Eddie Griffin
    Sagana Diop
    Rodney White
    Joe Johnson

2000(might be the worst class ever, contract to 2002):
    Kenyon Martin
    Stromile Swift
    Darius Miles
    Marcus Fizer
    Mike Miller
    DerMarr Johnson
    Chris Mihm
    Jamal Crawford
    Joel Przybilla
    Keyon Dooling

Players who are outside the top 10s, but earn their rights to be mentioned:
    Carlos Boozer 2002
    Gilbert Arenas 2001
    Vladimir Radmanovic 2001
    Richard Jefferson 2001
    Tony Parker 2001
    Quentin Richardson 2000

Here is my own draft picks:
    1. Yao Ming (second best center in the league as a rookie)
    2. Dajuan Wagner (played 10 games, already like Iverson)
    3. Pau Gosol (head and should above the 2001 class)
    4. Amare Stoudemire (high schooler rocking the NBA)
    5. Richard Jefferson (one of the best small forwards in the league)
    6. Tony Parker (20 years old playing like 27)
    7. Kenyon Martin (the best of 2000)
    8. Drew Gooden (ROY contender in 2002)
    9. Gilbert Arenas (very high bball iq)
    10. Jay Williams (struggling, but still good)

Take your picks and have fun! Bashing and ripping welcomed.

Pau Gasol is a crying babe and plays with no heart. I have absolutely ZERO respect for him.

Remember just a month ago Yao probably was the biggest bust in NBA draft history. Fuuny how fast did it take to make him a God like player from a bust.

ming is the best/only "real" number pick since duncan. it's scary to think how he would be playing now if he had some rest over the last 2+ years and did a (full) pre-season with the team instead of international/national team commitments

Honestly Yoa is probably the best pick since Tim Duncan (5 years?) and who knows if some time we will have to go farther back than that.

Tim Duncan??? He dominated him in the game they met, and he's a rookie, and Tim Duncan was 5 year veteran and reigning MVP. Of course, it's just a game, but I personally would say he's the best since Shaq. Or....., best ever?

Yao Ming is not better than Tim Duncan, nobody believes he is better and nobody will think he is better, maybe 2 years but definitly not now, and BEST EVER????? is he better than Hakeem?
And he is no where near shaq right now. wait a couple of months please. And Im too lazy to research all the info on number one picks so Ill be quiet now.

Best #1 ever??? Wow we should actually wait till Ming is done to suggest something like that thats pretty crazy to suggest that just a quarter into the guys rookie season.
Yes Yao outplayed Duncan. But I wouldnt say dominated. I didnt see the game so I dont know the whole story but by judging by Duncans stats its not like the guy did nothing,
    Ducan 25 PTs 12 Boards 2 Steals 2 Blocks 3 Assist
    Yao 27 Pts 18 Boards 0 Steals 3 blocks 2 Assist
Defintely in Yao's advantage but I wouldnt say dominated just outplayed. Now Yao dominated Shawn Bradley. :)
Just my thoughts I am in no way bashing Yao even though it may sound like it, I have no doubt he will Dominate Duncan someday :)

Let's see if Yao hits a rookie wall in the middle of the season. So many things can happen in the rest of this year, it's simply too early to make these sorts of judgement calls for me.

Way to early to tell, I mean right now Gooden is having a better season than Yao. I hope it is not the case, but who is to say that Yao hasn't been just really hot over the past ten games or so? Until the end of the season Yao is just another rookie

Ming looks to be the best of the group. Where is Chris Mihm? Remember how the experts said he was going to have an immediate impact somewhere? I liked him as a Longhorn.
