Hell No, He is not. Everyone wants players on this team to compliment Yao, as if he already is the Franchise player. We already know Steve is not a Franchise player and Yao is proving not to be one either. A franchise player is one that wills his team to win, someone who is a leader, who demands greatness from his teammates and who makes them better. Yao is not a stiff but he is not a franchise player either. This season proved that he doesn't have "IT". If he were a Franchise player he would have led the Rockets down the strectch but instead he was too tired and he folded. JVG set up the the entire offense around Yao based on potential but Yao has shown he can't carry the entire offensive load by himself. I'm not going to say that Yao doesn't have heart because you can't play in the NBA with out heart, but Yao just lacks that intesity and fire that all the great franchise players have every second they are on the court. Yao would be a good complimentary option on this team but just not the main option.
Not yet....patience, not yet.... I hate the word potential, even moreso because of the EG debacle. Still, Yao's potential/upside/whatever you want to call it is through the roof. He can become the franchise center of the next generation of NBA superstars, supplanting Shaq. But not yet. He's a franchise player, just not yet.
By now I am sure you have some kind of Mad Yao Disease. Almost every single one of your post is about Yao Ming. It's getting repetitive and boring. I think we are more interested in finding out why you are so obsessed with Yao than listening to your repetitive craps.
I'm just trying to find out what fans see in Yao's game that makes him the most popular Rocket ever. I just want to know what you see that makes you believe his a 7'5'' chinese version of Jordan.
no one on here has ever said that. I'm assuming you have some problem with him being Chinese, then? don't worry, thats not an uncommon reason to dislike someone.
When did I say he's a 7'5" chinese version of Jordan? If you have seen I have said anything even close to that, quote it. Don't try to make things up to make yourself a fool. So now you start to put words into other people's mouth. How low can you get?
I hope he does become a Tim Duncan, Garnett kind of player...thats what we're hoping for as someone said before, patience
amed, All I've hear you do is complain about things, but I haven't seen you offer up alternatives. If I'm correct, so far you've said that we shouldn't build around Yao and you've also said that we shouldn't build around Francis. So, what exactly do you think we should do? Are you saying that we should stand pat? If not, give me some specific ideas for what we should do in your opinion. Give me the specifics of what players we should pursue and realistically have a chance to acquire. For instance if you think McGrady is the answer, then tell me how you think we'd acquire him and then tell me what the fallback plan should be if we can't get him.
Do i need to say more? it seems u've just wanted to take every chance u got to bash Yao. We all know Yao did not do well in playoffs, and we all talked about in numerous threads. Still, u just had to open this poll to make yourself look like a fool.
I am still waiting for him to quote the post in which I said Yao is a 7'5" Chinese version of Jordan. I guess only if you have Mad Yao Disease would you be able to see it.
Amed- Do you think that Garnett, T-Mac, Vince Carter, Iverson etc. are franchise players? None of them have taken their teams very far in the playoffs nor "willed" their teams to victory when it counts. How many years did it take Shaq before he finally was able to win a championship? Surely you aren't going to say that Shaq wasn't a franchise player until he won it all. And as for the 7'5" Chinese Jordan comment... where the heck did that come from? Is MJ the only player worthy of being a franchise player? I do agree with you that a franchise player needs to be able to put a team on their shoulders and carry them at times (which Yao did a number of times this season). But as much as I like Kenny Smith and Robert Horry, I would stop short of calling them franchise players. I think that it is too early to designate Yao as a franchise player but I think he is definitely on the right path. He continues to improve and you can't measure all of the shots he changed or players (like Shaq) that he was able to contain. It's only been two seasons and besides Shaq. how many true centers in this league would you rank above Yao? 'Nuff said.
Last Year: HELL NO This Year: NO Next Year: Maybe In 2 Years: Probably In 3 Years: YES! Once his upper body strength builds up (when he's 25/26) He is going to be almost impossible to dislodge from the post. Only a select few franchise players were such in their 1st 2 years so give it a couple of more years.
amed stop b****ing and go home your a fairweather. It's called patience... Just like Axl Rose said...'just a lil patience'
