I mean. I know winning is always good. But, I remember oh to well the spring training the astros had this past season (where they had something like the second best record) and unfortunately remember their regular season too (where they had something like the second worst record).

We have beaten 4 playoff caliber teams and lost only by a point to the fifth. Is this a sign of things to come, or just a sign that its the preseason and star players arent getting quality minutes and playing at top level yet.

Theres just something always deep in my head that says dont win when it doesnt count cause it could be taking away wins later. Its horrible horrible logic, but i cant get it out of my head.

Hey, what could be better for a young team than winning? We all loved seeing the way the Rockets played to end the season - I see this as a continuation of that.

Maybe for a veteran team like the Lakers they can shake preseason losses off because they don't mean anything - and I'm sure they're resting Shaq - but it seemed like we took half a season to learn how to win last season.

I'd say a young, talented team that can score and knows how to win can at least take over what the Kings used to be - the team noone wants to face. At best? Hey, who knows?

I know I'm looking forward to finding out [IMG]

Winning gives em confidence. It doesnt really matter if these wins dont count.

Plus the Astros are just natural born losers.

Simply put, winning is just good for the team (mentally in particular), regardless of whether it's preseason (where it doesn't officially count), regular season, etc.

    JayZ,

Actually, the Astros finished the season strong and ended up with only the 5th worst record in the National League, and the 8th worst in the Majors. Teams with worse records: AL - Texas, Tampa Bay, Minnesota; NL - Montreal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago. Milwaukee had one more win (73), and Baltimore had two more wins (74).

I too, believe that winning in the preseason is much more important for a young emotional team. If they went winless in the preseason, they might not have the confidence they need in the regular season.

the astros are not..natural born losers. the astros are going to win the world series next year. but baseball is a different game than basketball, and i think that the preseason of each gives off different impressions of how a team will do over the course of a season, sometimes false. the rockets are showing that they are very cohesive and in sync. it will probably carry over into the season. on the other hand the preseason of baseball, there are different pitchers used every inning, and a lot more substitute players than basketball. thats why the astros fluked and won every game. because everyone was just jacking around. the bottom line is in preseason baseball games there is more jacking around than in basketball games and therefor we should be encouraged by the rockets good start and expect it to be carried over into the season. and im not just saying that.

Look at the Fakers, they're 0-4 in the preseason. Does that mean they won't do well in the regular season?

    I think not...

Winning is always better than losing! (Unless you're trying to get more ping pong balls.) [IMG] It puts the team in a positive mindset to start the season.

For each group of players the preseason has its own signifigance, since our problem was cohesiveness, these wins are very important because they're indicitive of our jelling as a team

I think the winning is good absolutely, and the reasons why have already been stated.

I also don't put great importance on it at the same time cus there are too many substitutes, etc. right now and also other teams will adjust to our pressure defense when it counts, when the games count.

I think overall, we will be a good team this year and maybe better than that.
