So essentially he was benched by JVG all last year. For valid reasons I thought, but perhaps in contrast to what the Rockets told him his role would be. Now, he's buried even deeper on the bench. A James/Alston PG combo is pretty nice. Unless Rafer is being packaged with Battier or other people to bring us a PF, Artest, or Lewis, then it means one of three things: 1.) Vspan will be traded 2.) Despite the Adelman phone call, Vspan is staying in Greece 3.) Vspan is buried as a 3rd string PG. Not a good position to be in. Thoughts?
i think skip will be traded so that is not the end for vspan. I still wouldnt mind them bringing in francis for the vets minimum, but spanoullis is not doen here.
The more I think about, you guys are probably right. Right now we do not have ANY strating PF's (even if we resign Hayes - a backup at best). So we still need to get a PF somehow by trade & depth in the draft. Even if we get Artest or Lewis - both of which I doubt - Rafer + Battier, or Rafer plus Sura could bring something nice in, and leave Vspan as the primary backup.
i'm not comfortable leaving billy, lucas, and head to man the backup PG spot all season again. i don't care who the coach is. i think billy can really flourish under adelman but i bet management doesn't want to wait and see. he will either be traded or choose to stay in greece, or both.
Although V-Span has a much better chance to suceed now that Adleman is coach, he is still unproven in the nba. We know what we have with rafer-- a legit nba backup pg. Until V-Span proves himself, Rafer will be backing up James.
You have to think that Vspan is wondering that himself with the MJ trade. Another year of riding the bench, all the more reason for him to to consider staying in Greece and asking the Rockets for his release.
remember at the deadline when the rockets were thinking about this trade (juwon-james) but didn't want to make it because they didn't feel that they could make a follow up move to fill the hole that would be left at the 4 spot? i think they made this deal because they are confident that they can fill the hole at PF this time. there is definitely a trade in the works...
i dunno but this trade looks like alston will be out soon. we probably get more by trading alston for another position and seeing how vspan handles backup PG.
i don't see why you would think there is a chance of moving shane for those guys. there hasn't been any rumors about that. there are a lot of options at PF: shane for wilcox or haslem. luther for sean may sura for evans billy, snyder, sura for murphy sura and billy for foster just some idea's that i worked up on espn's trade machine...
I honestly don't think it has any effect on Billy. I think it just improves the Rockets, which is all that matters to me. DD
How do you define shafted? My hope is we will still be trading for a starting PG with MJ coming off the bench as a backup PG/SG 6th/7th man. This would bury V-Span deeper in the bench than last year but who cares? It's all about the Rockets getting better. Maybe V-Span steps his game up and plays his way into the backup PG position no matter what happens. Maybe (not likely) he supplants MJ as backup PG during the season.
rafer is owed $4,550,000 $4,900,000 $5,250,000 ($14.7 million) over the next 3 years. not an exuberant amount, but i doubt any team wants to take his 37% shooting, unless we take some other garbage in return. hopefully he'll be moved and v-mac will play a role other than trash time.
What's weak, you piece of crap, is your inability to ever discuss anything related to Vspan without crying or pissing yourself. I asked for opinions as to what happens with Vspan now. I didn't see you offer one, you idiot troll.
