    Just wondering what y'all think.

Seems like he wasn't really involved in getting Morey. Is that usually the case? You would think Les would involve VG with that big of a decision.

Why should he be involved? He the coach, thats all. His only say is if it involves players. Its up to the Owners and management that r involved. GMs control the coaches, not the other way around.

i think JVG has next year to save himself. it's not his fault that tmac and yao were injured. in fact, when healthy we won 21 out of 31 games.

if there is a health issue again next year then its tmac's job that's in question. however, if we are relatively healthy next year and we fail to make the second round then JVG is out.

with the MLE to add a piece, the lotto pick and stro available in trade, we should be able to get enough talent around yao and tmac to make the second round.

...which wouldn't be nearly enough for Mr. Van Gundy to save his job. Injuries do not make this a "free pass" year. Major trades do not make for a "free pass" year. Four seasons starting with a good (not great, but good team with Yao Ming) and can't get past the second round? Off with his head.

I know. I can't believe he messed up Sura's knee, stepped on Yao's toe, hit T-Mac in the back with a 2x4, broke Wesley's rib with a sucker punch, hurt Rafer's foot, simultaneously strained Jon Barry and Derek Anderson's calves and sprained Stromile's ankle. Let's not forget how he injured Juwan's heart last season. What a jerk. We should fire him

with tmac and yao missing the games that they did...what coach would've got us into the second round or even the playoffs?

let be realistic. this team minus tmac can't win no matter the coach. we need more talent. we need shooters who can make teams pay for tripple teaming yao.

if JVG can't win with talent then he's gone. but to call for his job when he can't win with no talent? who can? JVG led us to 51 wins last season. this year with yao and tmac we won 21 out of 31 games. about the same win % as last year.

if we were healthy all year and won 51 games again would people still be calling for JVG's job or would they be concerned about the playoffs right now?

Nah, all of this is nothing compared to the stupidest move of the season: giving away Lonny Baxter and getting Keith "Bricklayer" Bogans in return as a backup for T-Mac. Worst. Trade. Ever. FIRE GUMPY!!!

Remember the very first thing JVG said when he became Houston Rockets coach? "No excuses".

Rox brought JVG in, not for 51 wins, a playoff seat or something, they brought him in for the championship! Now if he still can't lead the team pass first round next year (the fourth year he coaches in Houston), I don't care whatever reasons, no excuses, he should go.

BTW, coaches get fired because of the injuries all the time. JVG is lucky because he has an owner, a GM and bunch of fans who are very patient, and somewhat afraid of changes.

Why Rick Carlisle can win games despite what happened to his team? Pacers were totally messed up the past two years: injures, brawl, suspensions, you name it. And yet he still managed to survive, not only won games, he even made the second round last season! Talking about excuses.

Nothing the Pacers have gone through is comparable to what the Rockets went through this season. Be realistic about it. They never lost their point guard, all star forward and all star center all at once, all for huge chunks of the season.

They've probably had worse injuries this year than any other year (primarily to O'Neal coupled with the loss of Artest), and despite adding a great shooter in Peja, they're only three games ahead of Houston in the win column. And they haven't had it nearly as bad as we have. Sure, there's valid criticism to be leveled at JVG, but don't come around here trying to compare us to the Pacers. There just isn't any comparison.

i agree. if he can't get the job done NEXT year he should go. however, if tmacs back has a repeat of this year then i would be more worried about tmacs job than JVG's.

the reason that carlisle was able to lead the pacers into the second round was because by the time the playoffs came around they were healthy. i give him all the credit in the world for making the playoffs though. the difference though is the pacers have a much deeper team with much more talent in a much easier conference.

I hope your health is well, but whatever condition "we" are in has zero effect on the on-court performance of the Rockets.

Further, were it not for "Le$ folly" (i.e.: the one-year extension), there would be a very real possibility Mr. Van Gundy would be done as the Rockets' head coach in a few weeks instead of going into a lame-duck season.
