Yeah it's great. I've used turbotax.com for my returns the last 10 years. It saves all of your previous years data which is nice. It walks you through everything and is extremely easy to navigate. I believe for a simple return it is free even. My returns cost $30 and it is well worth it.
I use it too- if you don't do it online just go for the basic version the delux is overkill in most cases.
I'll typically fill out both turbo tax and H&R block and go with the one that gives me the bigger refund. You'd think they'd be exactly the same, but there is usually enough of a difference to go with one or the other.
If you only have a simple return, then I would do what Leroy said and run it on both TurboTax and H&R Block to see if one gives you a better refund. Since I do taxes for a living, I just use the program we have at my office and when I've run mine on there versus TurboTax and/or H&R Block there has always been a difference. When the program is free, it's definitely worth it to try it on each of them. Pugs
I used this for 3 years, but they are being little punks trying to get me to pay for every little thing. I have an account with them, but to import last years data, they want me to pay $9... screw that, I am going with Turbo Tax this year. Also, do any of the free online tax returns work well with a 1099 and a w2 together?
Just did it, I got like 1000 in a refund, not sure if its right but I’m going to H&R block also just to see if its anywhere close to it.
Like others have said for simple returns turbo tax is great.. been using it for 4 years. This year, however, I also did it at hr block just to see if it was the same return and surprisingly it was exactly the same. So I'm sticking to Turbo.
I've used H&R Block's site for years, but got stumped with an IRA contribution and subsequent conversion to a Roth IRA issue. I then tried Turbo Tax which dumbed it down some to where I think I have it right.
My accountant buddy told me that most of the people who work at H&R Block actually use Turbo Tax to do their client's taxes. LOL.
