if this was already discussed, then i'm sorry i missed it and please lock this thread. the team is going on a 5 game road trip. is tmac going with them? if he is, we can expect him back sometime during the trip. if not, then i guess he's really out for a while and we can count on losing most of the games on this tough trip.
according to chron, his status is still day-to-day but he is going to travel with the team. I expect him to play on Friday and whip Kobe's sorry a$$
i read in the paper this morning that they are evaluating him this afternoon and then deciding if he goes on the trip. seems like if we are in for more of last years misery he will miss the trip, and if this is just a small flare up on the second night of the second back to back in a week on the road, then ill be ok. all i know is im a lot more worried about mcgrady's back than my history final this afternoon.
lol i feel you on that one, i got a B on a final i had yesterday, but when the rockets lost last night i didnt care
that's the thing. he has done a good job this summer strengthening his back. he was moving well on the court all season. he could probably keep it up if we didn't have such a tough schedule. why not let him come off the bench some nights? the second night of a back-to-back, tmac should be coming off the bench and playing 25-30 minutes. the same thing goes for weeks that we play 4 or 5 games. let him rest and stay healthy for the playoffs. a healthy tmac off the bench for 25 minutes is better than no tmac or injured tmac playing soft and passive. plus it's only for a handful of games.
Backs just aren't like other injuries - if his back goes south on him, he can't play, period. You can't play through it like you could tendonitis. It stops you cold. The minutes he puts on the court don't 100% correspond to his back's condition. You could play 5 minutes and tweak it. You could play 40 minutes and feel great afterwards. It's Russian Roulette. McGrady's back won't heal with rest - it will simply calm down. The risk that it will strike again will still be just as great. Back conditions only go one way - down. The inflammation is what is controllable with rest and steroid shots. If the back's inflammed, the chance of a pinched nerve goes up a hundred fold. All those posters that rail against McGrady when he says he doubts he'll play past this contract need to get a handle on the reality of his situation. Evan
if this is just a small flare up on the second night of the second back to back in a week on the road, then ill be ok. yeah, that is a good point. 4 games in 5 nights is pretty tough.
omg dude I have a freakin U.S History test tomorrow. I think we should demand that the rockets stop playing during our finals. take a week off or something because I damn failed my English test because i had to watch the rockets.
Agreed. I have buddy who apparently was around when Tracy was at one of the local hospitals and said there isn't jack you can do. If he doesn't want to have spasms anymore, he shouldn't play anymore. Something about his spinal column is narrow or something. Evan couldn't put it any better than, "it's Russian Roulette." To me it's worth the risk. I just wonder what goes through Tracy's mind. He was just starting to get warmed up and start really attacking and actually dunkin' ON PEOPLE again. With this latest flare up, it could have him scared to exert himself again. Then again, he aggrevated his back just contesting a 3pt shot. I guess we have no choice but to wait and see what happens.
This has been going on since his early days in Orlando, we knew to expect a handful or 2 of DNPs a year because of back spasms before we made the trade...
So, does anyone know if TMac was placed on the IR list or if he is just day-to-day and will probably miss one game only? If he was placed on the IR, he could be out for at least 5-6 games. I only ask because last game, the Rockets had 12 active players with Bonzi Wells coming off the IR. When TMac comes back, who's going to sit out and go to the IR?
The IR is decided based on each game. So TMAC was on IR of last game doesn't mean he has to stay on IR for the next game. I guess when TMAC is back, Wells will be on IR until he is in game shape and when everyone is healthy and ready to play, the IR will be decided by the matchup of the next game.
Don't see any reasons he should play soon. We can afford playing several games without him. I would expect to see him in Spurs game. He need time to rest. And we need him in playoff.
That's a great idea. When T-Mac gets healthy, JVG should see if he can get wins while starting Luther or Bonzi in T-Mac's place, try ot reduce his minutes that way.
