You guys think that TMac would be able to pull off the kind of scoring that Kobe has the last four games? I know he couldn't in the situation we are in right now due to the fact he is surrounded by much better teammmates than Kobe, but if he was in the same situation as Kobe, could Mac score 50+ in four straight games? I'm not so sure that he is capable of that. What do you guys think?

Mcgrady is just as good as kobe, but i don't think he's as clutch as kobe. Plus mcgrady doesn't have to score that much a night, there is a reason a guy called Yao is on the team.

Tracy is a better allround player. but when it comes to scoring, it's kobe. look at how easily he is scoring 64 , 50, 60 and 50. thats just insane numbers. tracy does everything better except scoring.

T-mac is a great scorer and definitely an all-star. But his game has diminished a bit and I wouldn't put in at the same level as Kobe/Wade/Lebron.

He seems to have a lot of trouble finishing of late - especially in end of quarter situations. Still, he's very good and gives opposing teams a lot of things to worry about. He may pick up his game in the playoffs as well.

If Tmac would drive more, and draw more fouls, he'd have a better chance. I think his back spasm issues are in the back of his mind a lot the last couple of seasons, and he shoots more jump shots.
In the Pistons game, however, he looked more to drive the ball, I think because T. Prince can challenge his jump shot so well.

That said, I think Kobe is a more consistent ballho...I mean, scorer. ;)

No he couldn't, part of it is he plays for the Rockets who play a slower offense that don't get off as many shot attempts. Also, Kobe is way better than TMac, ask any NBA player who the best player in the game is and many will say Kobe but you won't hear TMacs name ever.

tmac is no kobe, but he is still around that level, plus i bet kobe puts in a lot more work in the gym than tmac, which makes kobe that much better, if tmac were to do the same, the possibilities are endless.

mmmm did everyone forget about the tmac that averaged 32 points??

i dont know about him scoring 4 games over 50 cuz even jordan didnt do it, but i can see him scoring more than 40points in like 5-6 games (not now..back then)

but kobe wasnt double teamed on alot of those plays

he scored those points on not only his skills but also alot of luck regarding how other teams played him

    tmac gets doubled MUCH more

Actualy, t-mac doesn't get the superstar calls like others does. i remember one game this season he would drive and drive, and the 4th quarter and just doesn't get a call. he was fustrated and it was pretty obivious. kobe is a better scorer, alot better, but tmacs better at everything else. one thing that isiah said yesterday about lebron could be said to tmac. thomas said" you can be friends with all your teamates, or you can win a championship." at first i was like wtf. but the cavs announcers explained pretty well. talking about mj being tough on his teamates, and same with isiah, himself.

Tmac FGP is always in the low level of his league players. He is not a good shooter. He is a good scorer. But not as good as KB.

No, simply because it isn't his game. T-mac, even with this current Lakers squad would find a way to get those guys in rhythm before taking over himself. Odom, Walton, and Bynum are all better than anyone he had on those magic squads.

T-Mac can score the 50 if he needed to but I rather have T-Mac play the way he has been playing lately. T-Mac would have to continue to attack the rim like Kobe does. Kobe is I think 3 in the league for getting to the ft line and T-Mac is 29. Kobe is an increbile player and I wish him the best in what he does.

Tmac is a notch below Kobe when it comes to scoring, but is a better team player. I'd much rather have Tmac and Yao then Kobe and Yao.

Man, this is sad that there are so many people not giving T-Mac any props. The guy carried the Rox when Yao was down, averaging close to 30 ppg with 7 or so assists per game on 45% or so shooting. I've seen T-Mac put together 17-20 point quarters (especially critical 3rd qtrs) to kill other teams' wills. T-Mac can score with the best in the league when necessary. He just doesn't need to every night, especially with Yao. Phonie24 is probably a better scorer b/c he shoots a better percentage, but Mac is lights out a better passer (his vision is amazing), better rebounder, better defender when he commits himself to it (he shut down Nowitzki in that series in 04)- don't tell me it was all ryan bowen ;)

If T-Mac were on the Lakers right now, they would have a better record not b/c he would be putting up 32 ppg, but b/c he would get everyone involved and his teammates would actually love playing with him rather than watch him.

All you Phonie24 lovers are in love with him now, but wait til T-Mac takes over in the playoffs and the Rockets are in the WCF, and Phonie is gone fishing again after the Suns knock them out and he quits on the team again, then we'll talk about who's greater.

anyone can score 50 once in a while...

...but can T-Mac score this for 4 straight games? Even in his orlando days he couldn't do that.

T-Mac can't shoot free throws, IMO that's why he doesnt wanna drive cause they will foul him and he will brick 1 or 2 of those freebies.

I hope T-Mac is practicing his freethrows right now

I think 2-4/5 seasons back, it's a really close call. Back then, Tmac was a freak of nature going to the rim, and then pulling up for jumpshots. Kobe was around that level. Both were pretty much neck and neck when it comes to swingman scoring superiority.

But since then, Kobe has just taken his game to another level. The way he's shooting right now is simply just INSANE. I can tell you, his jumper wasn't THIS good in the past. Now, you throw, double, triple teams at him, and he can still make that fallaway jumper. He can hit fadeaway 3s with a man right up on him consistently. He's just crazy good.

Tmac's offensive game has stagnated, or even diminished, depending on who you ask, since his monster '02-'03 campaign. Whether it's because of his balky back or not, nobody knows. But Kobe's athleticism has gone down a little too, but he more than made up for that with his insane shooting skills now. I don't know what he does in offseasons, but whatever it is, Tmac should follow the same regimen.

Of course, with Yao now he doesn't NEED to score like he did.
