A few weeks ago, I asked why TMac's field goal percentage and overall scoring was going down. A bunch of people said," Oh he's just coasting and saving it for the playoffs." Is he still coasting? Cuz he needs to get it started right about now to get himself warmed up and ready for the playoffs.
he might be coasting a bit, especially if yao can do most of the scoring. but once the pressure if on, tmac will be nailing his jumpers for sure.
He was doing his Powerful Orlando style dunks today. And penetrating a lot. So dont worry about T Mac. I was so schocked to see how powerful he was dunking.
ops wrong thread, was refering to that last play by T-mac. anyway I don't think hes coasting, is not like we can afford to.
For such an important game with huge playoff implications I will not accept just coasting as an excuse for shooting 9-23 this time!
I agree... Tmac has been coasting all year..(I was hoping) but his 9-23 has been par for the year... except that streach where Yao went down... I was hoping he was saving it for playoff games... this was it... as close as you can get... and Tmac didnt bring it... I didnt think we could make it to the WCF... now im thinking we wont make it out of the first round... if Tmac cant bring it... we are doomed.... and so goes are Champinship hopes... you think any free agent would want to come to this team if we blow it in the first round again...
TMac may be coasting with regard to his expenditure of energy (I don't know for sure, of course), but his shooting has been pretty bad for a while. When you coast, you usually don't let your FG% coast with it. I hope he turns it around in the playoffs.
whatever. he sucked tonight, when it actually counted. t-mac has proved himself that he chokes in this kind of important games. As much as I love Rockets, I am seriously disgusted with the way they played tonight. This is not a playoff-ready team. T-mac has some serious soul-searching to do if he wants to prove he can actually win a playoff serious and not a loser.
If we get more of the t-mac tonight - we probably won't go too far into the playoffs. Really, everything rests with him. How far we go, everything. We know what we will get from everyone else right now. The big ? is which t-mac is going to show up??? If it's the t-mac we're used to seeing from years ago - we're going to be in great shape. If it's the t-mac of late - things look bleak. Wouldn't hurt if Rafer takes less shots too....
first of all, one thing that annoys me is is "homer" 3 pointer. rox have some sort of momentum and tracy has this mentality "you can't stop me" three pointer. why not go to the offense that has got you to having the momentum instead of chucking a "i'm all world" shot? it kills the momentum when he does that
i honestly dont think tmac cares all that much.... and that's a gawddamn shame for us. he just doesn't have "it."
=__________= I saw this on a Jazz forum: Why did T-mac pass to Yao in the last second? Because he thought he was Okur.
tmac is not hard minded enough especially by taking all those jumpers. It shows today and it shows his willingness in the lakers game when compared to kobe...
I have no concrete proof I can show to you, but I honestly think TMac is scared to go inside. I don't know if it's his back, his belief that his skills penetrating have deteriorated, or what, but this isn't the TMac that was playing 3 or so years ago. Yes, he's older, but his game has changed. On most of his penetrations (when he bothers to do it), he's content with some wild shot, layup, or finesse shot. Three years ago, he would've hammered the shot down somebody's throat with a dunk. We see glimpses here and there of that TMac (the dunk he threw in AK47's face which unfortunately didn't count was an example). TMac at time is a liability even when he's going for a layup as a result. And his 3 point shot is erratic and usually just bad. I don't know what it is, but I hope he corrects it. Luckily he's so good in other facets of the game now such as in distributing the ball, we've been able to overlook it. However, if you look back at several games, you could say if TMac had just shot a respectable percentage, we wouldn't be discussing why on earth Rafer is taking "last second" shots. Am I blaming TMac? Of course not - without him we'd be a lost cause with Yao out and we'd be struggling to make the playoffs, but with a decently shooting TMac, we'd be damn-near unstoppable.
