Is THIS the most anticipated Rockets season for you in the past decade?

it is for me personally (though i say that every year). but here are my reasons:

    1) we have one of the most dynamic and lethal scoring backcourts in the entire L. AB is a budding star, and kmart is one of the most efficient scorers in the L. both can score at will when they're hot. both can shoot the 3 very well, and both complemented each other very well (brooks needs the ball, martin plays off of it). both love to run, which is essential in adelman's offense

    2) yao is back. i personally don't think he'll ever regain his all-nba form, but i think he'll be effective enough to help us. he can still score in short stretches, and we obviously need his size. anything yao can provide is a bonus. and all rockets fans are praying he can at least be 75% of the old yao

    3) a contending frontcourt with scola, yao, miller, and some young guns.

    3) GETTING YOUNGER, but BETTER. cbud, lee, hill, patterson...

    4) we have A BAJILLION ASSETS (exaggeration! ), but we have enough to make a trade for a star mid-year that can catapult us even more.

    5) daryl morey continues to make moves like lady gaga churning out hit singles.

so excited. 2 more months before the season. i think this team is a move away (and it will happen, i can feel it) from having a legit (not just contending) chance of winning it all.

EDIT: i think i meant in the past 10 years. anyways, i think this season ranks just below the 04-05 season for me. but i'm stoked for the season to start.

    PG - Brooks / Lowry

    SG - Martin / Lee

    SF - Battier / Budinger

    PF - Scola / Patterson

    C - Yao / Miller

That is just unbelievable depth. We can use a 10 man rotation easily!

1.) the pippen year (yeah i'm sure everybody was excited about it)

2.) Barkley year (ready to erase the seattle sweep out of our minds)

3.) the ron artest year (yeah, ron + yao + tmac = ...at least first round win)

4.) next year (because we actually want to see if Yao can play and to some extent the new Rockets gaining chemistry)

I don't think so. I think I had higher hopes when I thought we were going into the season with an in-their-prime Tracy and Yao. Then injuries struck.

Our defense will suck this season.

No, not particularly excited about it. Actually, pretty down. I don't think Morey thinks we can compete. Too many young guys to really try. And, we just finished committing a salary dump. Maybe if Morey cashes in his chips, I'll change my mind.

When we had Yao/McGrady, I was excited. When we had Yao/McGrady/Artest, I was very excited. Injured-Yao/Martin/Brooks doesn't have the same star power.

This is probably the least excited I've been in the last 6 years. We have no star and we just traded our starting sg for a backup 2.

After reading this thread it seems like we are contenders to win it all.

    In fact, we are NOT

right now, with the questions surrounding yao, we are NOT contenders.

but i think yao will still be highly effective and morey will make that big move for a star that we all are asking for.

i mean, we have a VERY VERY potent offensive team. and unlike most, i think lee will be just as good as ariza on the defensive end. we are not being worse losing trevor.

man, so many down rocket fans and the season hasn't even started yet. wth

More excited about the Texans, frankly.

Yao is going to get another season-ending-injury at some point this season and we'll be back to a .500 team.

I'm worried about our perimeter defense and Yao's health.

No, not even in the top three.

    Ralph's rookie season.
    Dream's rookie season.
Season after we won our first championship.

The 05-06 season was my most anticipated. We were one Michael Finley cheat away from moving to the 2nd round the year before. Thought the WBPS would take us far the following year, and Yao and Tmac were young and healthy. Unfortunately, the season was ruined by injuries pretty much immediately, and we got a team led by Rafter Alston and Luther Head stink up the joint all year.

I was also incredibly pumped for 08-09. ARTEST!! I'd been coveting that crazy **** since he landed in Sactown. I figured TMac would be but a shadow of himself, but still good enough for us to contend. We were coming off a season with a 22-game streak, for God's sake! Naturally, TMac called up his good buddy Stephen A. Smith and let us all down. I really couldn't have cared less if TMac lived or died after that. Still enjoyed the hell out of the season, though.

The 04-05 season was the most anticipated season for me

    Followed by the 08-09 season

This 10-11 season i guess is third because there is so much uncertainty with Yao.

This season is pretty high. Mainly to see what we have with Yao back and with a 2 who doesn't require the ball to be effective. I would put the anticipation just under the 86-87, 94-95, and 05-06 seasons. Two of
those had injury/drug issues. The other we won a chip.
