Maybe this doesn't deserve its own thread but I was thinking that this could be a PR move by both Mcgrady and Rockets. If they make the decision to shut him down for the season then my theory would be incorrect. However, with this news, I have a feeling Mcgrady and the Rockets will announce that he is going to play thru the PAIN and suck it up for the remaineder of the season. This is a "win" win" situation for him. If the rockets flame out and lose in the first round, he can use this injury as an excuse. Mostly it is Mcgrady putting this out there to save his reputation. However, if they get past the first round, he will be called a WARRIOR for fighting thru the pain and leading the rockets to the 2nd round and beyond. This would erase any previous opinions of fans' callilng Tracy "soft", and all the nicknames we love to give him (mclady, stacy, etc, etc). His legacy would be based on this one great season. Everybody would forgive and forget the whimpy TMAC. There may be truth to the fact that there is some missing cartildge in his knee but I think the Rockets knew aobut this before. How could they not??!!! It was just never announced. How can the best doctors in the world Not find this before? Seems fishy..... If my theory is proven wrong, which it could very well be, I for one will not waste my money on season tickets next year. If we have an inept medical staff that can not diagnose and treat players properly, then why should I help pay their salaries. I am not a fairweather fan as I have been a season ticket holder for SEVERAL years but if this Mcgrady thing is true, it would be down right RIDICULOUS. I have better things to waste my money on. I hope my theory is correct and we do get past the first round. Everybody would be happy with that outcome (fans, organization and most of all TMAC)......
of course it's a PR move! all these doctors are McGrady homers! how didn't I think of this??! afterall, state-licensed doctors can just pull stuff out of their butt to prevent people calling him McLady! don't you watch House?
well, lets just say that they announce he is coming back right after the All star break...what was the point of releasing the missing cartilidge story... if he is giong to play thru it then NOTHING NEW..he has been playing thru it all season.... are you telling me that it doesn't sound fishy to you that 3 doctors could not find this missing from his knee...are you kidding me???!! I'm just saying there is more to this story...there is some motive for this story coming out now....if you believe everything the rockets and mcgrady are spewing about this latest drama, than you are not that bright....
i guess if Mcgrady didn't want to be traded this was one way to do it...he ain't going anywhere now....nothign would surpirse me anymore...

It's a lose-lose situation for Tracy regardless if he plays through it. Nobody will ever call him a warrior. He is just hated like that...
see what I mean...no change....they knew all along that his knee was damaged (missing cartiledge)....he has been playing thru it all season and will continue to play thru it...come on TMAC suck it up and lets make a run
if this was a move by t-mac's "camp", then its a really bad one. this is exactly what will have many fans calling for his head for allowing such a move. We all know t-mac has never been a sharp PR guy.
He played with injuries last year and flamed out the first round. Nobody excused him then. Even with Yao out and Skip missing games.
I seriously doubt if the Rockets are going to stoop so low to do something like this. I also feel that this reduces whatever little chance of trading him as well.
i may have been off about the Rockets being involved in this PR move, but it seems more and more that this is a move by Mcgrady and his people... look, he doesn't want to be traded...his home and his family live here in Houston..i'm sure he heard the trade rumors and what better way to squash any team calling Morey about TMAC....just say you may need Microfracture surgerey and no team will touch him... these players are alot smarter and shady than most people think.... he accomplised what he wanted....won't get traded now... I bet he comes back after 3-4 weeks and plays...that way trade deadline is gone...and he still has a chance to take the team past the first round... microfracture makes no sense as it would put him out for this season and next season and hten his contract is up!!...what would be the purpose of this kind of surgery?...it doesn't make any sense for them to down that road...that was made up...why would the rockets mention Micorfrature...they DID NOT....tracy woudl never have that type of surgery...he would rather retire than go thru that kind of rehab... my guess is that he will come back and play sometime this season ..and then next season he will have a monster year since its a contract year and will be out of houston at the end of next season..... this whole thing seems shady and seems like its all coming from the Mcgrady camp...we are frustrated but imagine how frustrated his teammates, Les, and Morey are....its always something with the true drama queen of the NBA
