http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/222148/HP-G70-460US-17-Widescreen-Notebook/ I bought it on sale at office depot for $525.00 it came with a free printer. This is the first computer I bought in about 12 years my Dell demension 4500 is still kickin I figured it was time for an upgrade. I didn't purchase the extended warranty($200.00) or the optimization($100.00).I'm mainly gonna use it as a desktop replacement.
That's a nice system and a good deal. You probably did the right thing on the extended warranty. At 40 percent of the value of the computer, it's not a very good deal. In my experience, if you're going to have problems it's going to be 18 months to 2 years out, and by that time your computer wouldn't be worth the 200 you spent on the extended warranty.
How'd you get it that cheap? Was it a display model or something? Their site has it for $699 (-$50 rebate). I was looking for a good laptop, but was going to wait until between Black Friday and Christmas or so. I also didn't want a 17" screen, but at that price I may reconsider.
Ah ok, yeah, I see it on TechBargains. Do you know if you get the free upgrade to Windows 7 with that?
Its on sale again for $579 (-$50 rebate) = $529 if your still looking for a laptop. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/222148/HP-G70-460US-17-Widescreen-Notebook/?cm_vc=c5203
Thanks smoove shoez, but I've decided to wait a bit and see what happens between now and Christmas during the Thanksgiving/Black Friday and Christmas sales. I did pass this on to a buddy who was looking for a new laptop, though. Thanks again.
Do you work for Best Buy? Getting a warranty is a total rip, especially from retailers. If you do feel the urge to purchase a warranty, get it from the manufacturer. *prices drop too quickly on laptops to justify getting a warranty.
It would be the first computer you've bought in 12 years? Even a netbook would be a major upgrade, heck, is your old computer even more powerful than a iPhone 3GS???
