No place 10-15 guys can go and pay 5 bucks a person to go play basketball indoors for a good 2-3 hours that's close to southwest or galleria area? I've been wanting to set up a weekly basketball get-together. I have the guys and interest but never the place. Anyone with churches with barely used gyms that would that would like to rent it out? I'm sure a donation to the church can be made and waiver forms filled out
There used to be a church on the West Loop and San Felipe that would allow you to play for minimal pay, but that was a long time ago. The church was behind the building located at 2000 W. Loop South.
wow...paying to play on a court? that makes me feel glad that i found this public indoor court in austin. but austin is not houston...so sorry i cant help.
its in south austin....off of cumberland and south 5th street. right where cumberland dead ends. monday thru thursday its open 2 to 10pm i believe and on friday thru sunday its open like 2 to 6...not exactly sure...it may open earlier on the weekends. most of the time its high school kids there...its usually best to go around 7 or 8 if you actually just want to shoot around.
I THINK it was named St. Michaels, but it was a loooong time ago and it wasn't a Catholic church. Back in those days (mid 1980s) it was about $10.00 total and we had the gym for at least 2 hours.
The University of Houston Rec Center has 5 or 6 really nice courts, and it costs 6 bucks to get in all day if you are not a student.
YMCA is where I have been playing for the last 12 years....good ball, and nice people. Of course yesterday I came down on someone's foot, and my right ankle is the size of a grapefruit and purple. DD
I'll join. I'll do the UH thing, I was a student there last semester, I dunno if it's still valid though. I'd assume not since summer classes are going on, but I'll pay the 6 bucks to get in.
I'll be the short (5'7) fat hispanic guy. , I can pass like no other though (well, this was 1-2 years ago, I haven't played since) Although, would you guys make this a weekly thing? or at least once every 2-3 weeks? It'd be pretty fun I guess, I'll get a friend to join too if it happens
I've said before I work at the gym at North Harris College. Its 5 dollars if your not a student but its a pretty good indoor court.
If you a member of the 24 Hr Fitness the one on Beechnut has a basketball court Unfortunately they have no coordinated system of who got next. . . . . so you run around asking everyone then you figure u at the end of the line . . . then someone run in from the gym saying it is their up [I like the way the YMCA did it. . everyone signed the sheet and when the game was up . . . . the next four play . . . no matter who they are] It is usually good folx . . . . *usually* Rocket River
Count me in I'm 6' tall, out of shape, can only jump about a half an inch, and don't have much endurance, but I have decent speed, can defend well, and (after practicing a few games) i'm a decent shooter. -- droxford
I'm a member of the 24 Hour in Atascocita. It was the same way, then like a month or so ago they started the sign in sheet business.
I usually play at the 24 hour fitness on beechnut but yeah some of the guys are kind of stingy about picking you up especially if they haven't seen you before. that YMCA? Do you have to be member? or is there a guest fee they charge? How much is it? And I'm down for a b-ball meet as well. North harris college is kinda far out though
