Is there any chance some of these agreements unwind?

All of these free agent "signings" and trades that have been agreed upon since July 1 can't be consumated until July 11. So, I'm wondering, is there a possibility that some of these agreements can/will be reversed?

    Specifically,

    1. Is there a possibility that Asik and the Rockets mutually back out of signing him to an offer sheet if the Rox secure an agreement for a Dwight trade before July 11?

    2. Is it possible that DWill will recant his agreement to re-sign in Brooklyn?

    3. Is it possible that if DWill reverses course that the Joe Johnson trade unwinds?

    4. Because of the Hornets stated intention to match Eric Gordon's max offer could Gordon and PHX decide not to move forward and sign a max offer sheet?

    5. Is it possible that the Rox and Jeremy Lin have an agreement but won't sign it until investigating possible trade scenarios or at least waiting until the Asik situation clears so that the Rox don't have all their cap space tapped out at once taken up by two offer sheets?

    6. Is it feasible that Goran decommits from his PHX deal if we trade for Dwight and reach out to him again? I don't see anything preventing us from doing that during this dead period. He can't officially sign until July 11.

There has been a lot of committments made during this dead period that it would seem to me could be reversed.

My feeling on Asik is I really don't see him wanting to come here and back up Dwight. If another team comes forward that would give him the same contract offer that the Rox gave him with a promise to start (Indy?) then possibly he would ask out of our agreement with him and possibly Morey may want out if other moves are available that he likes.

I don't think DWill will reverse course but I don't see anything Brooklyn could do about it if he did. He'd be burning his bridges good up there. They'd never want him back. But he probably wouldn't have an occasion to want to play for them again anyways.

I don't think the Joe Johnson trade could be reversed without significant consequences. One team or the other could back out but that deal involves two teams. It's an agreed upon trade. If one or the other backed out, it would affect that team's dealings with other teams in future trades.

Concerning the Eric Gordon situation...if he clearly wants out of New Orleans, I see no reason for him to sign the PHX offer sheet and get locked in to N.O. matching and keeping him. There has to be some sort of negotiations ongoing there.

I don't think the Rox can decommit from offering Jeremy Lin a contract, nor do I see Lin decommitting from signing the deal. (Unless somehow a better PG option became available for the Rox and there was another team willing to offer Lin the same or better contract that Lin wanted to play for.) However, I could see the possibility that they are going to wait to see if they can force the Knicks hand on signing another PG like Felton or to match Fields' offer sheet and bring him back before they sign the poison pill offer sheet....to make it much more difficult for the Knicks to want to match.

Goran is gone and not likely to reverse course since we are already committed to the Lin offer sheet. But he could step out of that agreement with PHX, in my opinion, and be like DWill in Brooklyn. He's simply burning his bridge with PHX for the future. Still, I don't think it's likely.

This has been a very topsy-turvy start to the offseason and I see the possibility of some of the above things happening.

I can't remember a time when an agreement announced during the moratorium was reneged on later. I don't see why anyone would announce an agreement if there were still contingencies attached to it. But, I think it's possible. No one can sign anything yet, so they have the right to back out. I just doubt it happens.

Doubtful, Asik is valuable rebuilding or no, or as Dwight insurance if they get him and he leaves, and even if Chicago matches his sheet has value as it puts them in cap/l-tax jail.

I think Carlos Boozer was the last to back out of a verbal agreement when he was originally with Cleveland. They had a deal in place and he backed out and signed with Utah - if i remember the events correctly..

This was the last time i rmr anything like this happening so the above scenarios, while possible, probably not very likely.
