First McClain sounding off, then idiotic Richard Justice openly declaring Mario didn't deserve it and wasn't even close.

Whatever...First off all DE's are having down years. Yes Mario only has 8 with one more game and better have a good game. (4th in the AFC)..But I guarantee you we would not be talking about a lack of penetration if we had 4 replicants of Mario on the D-line. This guy gets doubled. He plays the run well.
We already have world class LB's. If we had 3 other D-linemen exactly like Mario, we would have it there as well

    Seriously?

They're like the idiots in high school that try to be different, but end up looking odd.

They 'should' be writing about how the Texans need to step up for the next game and make the playoffs. What to look for and what to do against NE. Anything and everything about THE biggest game in the franchise's history

But instead, they want to put down Mario Williams. It wasn't enough that Mario made them (and a lot of us) eat crow for telling everyone he was the wrong draft choice.

No, they want to find something that will justify their Vince Young/Reggie Bush 'once-in-a-lifetime-talent(s)' picks. So Mario makes the pro-bowl, and they jump ALL OVER it! Look at his sack numbers they say, look at his tackling numbers they say...how many times do we have to tell these professional sports writers to look at how Mario affects the game. Mario's numbers are pretty good considering the secondary has been terrible for the most part of the season.

If General and Dick feel he doesn't deserve probowl, they shouldn't write about it right before the game that could potentially bring the city of Houston a football playoff berth. Why demoralize him potentially? I'll bet they are HOPING he has an off game against NE, so that they could say, "I told you so! Yeah! I'm the writer of the year/decade!"

When you take a beast with the #1 anything short of Reggie White IS a disappointment. The writers believe Mario should be a major influence on every game and he isn't. The only way to shut down the guys who have mastered the QB position in the NFL is to get constant pressure on them. Mario himself realized that he was drafted to knock down Peyton Manning and he hasn't really done that. Really he's not even the best DE in our division.

But it's just another story, you have to write one every day.

I think Mario would benefit from drafting a DL that commands some double teams like a Mt. Cody though I guess he's a lock to go as a NT to a 3/4 team.

Anytime someone says "x shouldn't have made the Probowl" or "x should have made the probowl", they should be required to specify who should have made it instead, or who should have been left out.

If you compare Mario's numbers this year and Freeney's last year its interesting how similar they are and people still bash Mario for not being Freeney. The dude has had a rough year and yes didn't deserve a Pro Bowl spot but he was also snubbed two years ago so its cool with me.

I heard Robert Henslee on 610 say recently that he much rather have Vince Young and 2 second rounders than Mario Williams and Matt Schaub. What kind of crap is that? Schaub and Williams are two Pro Bowl type of players.

Yet he has sacked Manning in 3 of the last 4 Colts games I think. He may not be the best DE in the division, but the DEs in other divisions aren't all that much better than the top 3 in the Texans' division. Mathis, Freeney, and Williams are all arguably better than the best DE in any other AFC division.

McClain annoys me...every time I hear him on the radio, they treat him like the All-Mighty God of Football Knowledge.

He may know more about Football than most people, but he's still mostly an idiot when it comes to predictions.

For instance, he bet Matt Jackson an undisclosed amount that Tim Tebow will be a top 5 pick.

Thats really not a bad bet. I think the idiocy of most people would win out over John's. You forget that Tampa Bay will pick in the top 5. That would be their Vince Young in terms of ticket sales. Them or the jags. Anyway I digress.

Has it occurred to everyone here that the media guys know that Mario seems to need motivation at times? Also he seems to play well when he's doubted. Maybe, and this is just a theory, they are hoping he hears it and goes out with a mission in what could be the biggest game in the team's history. If he has a huge day, we probably win. Also if he has a huge day, I think it would expedite the pulling of Mr. Bundchen.

On another note, he is having a down year. I think we all agree on that. My argument against the writers is that no one is really playing so well that they should've gone over Mario.

I think the night and day performance that Mario had once Kubiak 'talked' to him left a bad taste in the media's mouth.

Before that, they might have just been writing off the year because of the injury. Once Mario got a little motivation from his coach, they might have felt differently.

Tampa Bay just drafted Josh Freeman last year and they are really high on him, unless they draft Tebow to play TE, they're not going to draft him. I would bet a lot of money that Tebow won't get drafted in the Top 5, running college QBs haven't really panned out in the NFL and I don't think scouts are willing to draft one that high anymore. Jags could be a likely option but they're not going to be drafting anywhere near Top 5-10.

As far as Mario, the #1 pick is always gonna be scrutinized more than other players, especially considering the circumstances surrounding that draft. But we're getting out of Mario exactly how he was advertised, a DE with unbelievable tools but a questionable motor. I know he's been playing hurt this season but there have been too many games this season where Mario was a non-factor for the most part.

Tebow's not even going in the first round. He may not go in the 2nd or 3rd rounds either.

The Jags are a really logical fit for a Florida celebrity like Tebow as that franchise would likely tongue polish Satan's d**k to increase attendance at this point.

Bottom line is that most of the time, Justice and McClain talk crap about the athletes that don't really give them the time of day.

While I do think that Mario is performing WAY under his potential, McClain always comes off sounding like some guy who got told "no" on prom night.

They wanted Vince and they loved saying Ï Told You So the first year. Mario had much better 2009 than Bush and Vince...or even Cutler and Leinart. But they still wont give him credit. Still a bit sensitive over the whole issue.

John McClain thinks Randy Starks of MIA deserved to go instead because the "Miami media told him Starks has been good all year". Seriously?

For covering football all this time, he actually knows very little. He has excellent contacts and sources who gives him info though.

I agree that they're big on Freeman, I just think Tebow will go earlier than he should. Probably not top five, but early nonetheless. I honesty think the jags scoop him up with thier first round pick.
