Last week I caught a bit of Raw when 2 middle eastern guys interupted whoever was talking or fighting to say that they're tired of the way they've been treated after 9/11. Tonight, I just turned it on and I see Mick Foley talking about supporting the troops for some defense department program and those 2 guys just showed up to call americans stupid and the troops evil.

WWE has never had class, but they are off the charts now. It's worse than the Iron Sheik during the first gulf war. I've also noticed that they have a "mentally handicapped" wrestler now too.

Wrestling and class are 2 words that just don't seem to ever go together.

It's really tasteless, but no more tasteless than in the past when they had Russians or Iranians as the villains. I think at a time when race/cultural relations are tenuous as it is, we don't need this. No one ever said the WWE had any class - they obviously don't.

You guys should have seen this though. Mick Foley says to them "I support your right to complain" and then names people who died to protect that right and then challenges him to a match for exercising that right.

I support your right to express your opinion, but I disagree with it and now I'm going to kick your ass.

I just remembered the Nation of Domination, that's another example.

I remember Hulk Hogan kicking Nikolai Volkov's ass when I was in the fifth grade. BOOYAH YOU COMMIE BEEYATCH.

PS: Keeley still has the video for Hulk Hogan's "I Am A Real American" and from what I gather from his emails watches it daily, first thing upon awakening, for inspiration.

There was also the one legged Hulk Hogan fan that was tossed down a flight of stairs.

He also had a few handicap matches.

8th Graders are the only people watching this so I don't see why it matters.

    steph has a nasty voice.

i thought they were suppose to make these guys tweeners.

    wrestling term for a tweener.

Tweener - Not excactly a Face, (see face), nor a Heel, (see heel).

    Face - babyface, goodguy

    Heel - Bad guy.

Tell that to my black roommate who is from the Southside of Chicago. He just sits there and watches wrestling he downloaded.

And the number of DVDs he has...

    what. the. ****.

He knows it's fake, but likes it. I thought maybe I could understand, because maybe there is cool action moves or great choreography or story lines.

But it's atrocious. I even learned those PPV events where blood is allowed is actually caused by the wrestlers themselves -- razor blades in their wrist cuffs. Maybe not a shock to y'all, but was disturbing to me.

Well perhaps; I met her up close (along with Vince, Mark Henry, Chris Nowitzki, Bradshaw, and Mick Foley).

I hate wrestling, but it was something to do just a few feet from my dorm. It was a debate before the Presidential Debate and believe it or not, those guys (Bradshaw and Foley) are very intelligent. Too bad their careers don't express them well.

I've got pics I'm too lazy to resize.

Unfortunately, that's exactly why it would matter. Impressionable young minds and all that. Hopefully they, and others, don't take it seriously, but people that age pick up a little bit of everything they see and assimilate it as information about how the world works. :(

Generic middle eastern terrorist villains I could understand. The problem here is the implication that ordinary people of that origin who complain about being treated badly are just terrorists in disguise. Not that I'm going to try to be the PC police. The one saving grace is that WWE doesn't worry about political correctness... but these one-dimensional portrayals are a disappointment, considering who's watching.

I don't think the WWE has to MAKE people dislike Muslims. Their target audience ALREADY dislikes Muslims. That's why they're running this up the flagpole.

The 8th graders are watching because they want to see some cans of whoop ass being opened... and also to see women be objectified.

    Two words: Iron Sheik.

The WWE is trying to relive past glory. Old Formula, new generation.

Don't forget the great evil axis jackel enemy nation of Uganda...and their lone bad-guy representative, Kamala. Those were stressful and tension-filled times between the US and Uganda. :D

WWE should bring back the Bushwackers and bring back the British Bulldog (from the dead) and Dynamite Kid so we could have American allies and then have Jacques Rougeau as a Frenchie to boo. I watched too much wrestling as a kid. :D

I sure their client market is already anti-Muslim.
