The Rox org. has been taking something of a beating as of late but closely examined, is it really warranted? I will admit that I'm a pretty positive guy when it comes to my Rockets but I tried to step away and be as objective as possible here. Has the orgainization made bad decesions or been a little slow to react sometimes? Sure the bad contracts go on and on. Maloney, Drew or RLewis, Cato, Mooch, etc. But the Mavs are well over the cap, the Kings are righ there and the Lakers aren't getting GP and Karla b/c of wise financial decesions, theyre getting them because they have 2 of the top 3 players in the NBA and they have the best coach. Lets examine how the organization pulled that off. When Shaq was a FA he said he wanted to go to LA to "act" and was very clear that the Lakers were the only team he was interested in. A no-brainer. Going into the draft, Kobe stated that he would only play for the Knicks, Bulls, or Lakers and if anyone else drafted him he woul go to college. Another no-brainer for the Lakers since they only had 2 teams to compete w/ and one of those had MJ and Pip on their roster so they wern't too interested. Phill also fell into their laps b/c an ego driven GM and an ego driven owner ran him out of Chi and all the Lakers had to say was Kobe and Shaq so another no brainer. I would also like to see a more proactive CD but I understand its not that easy. Getting Allen Houston or Elton Brand isn't as easy as saying I want one of them. EG is out there, Rox Public Enemy #3 Cuttino can be had for the right price, hell even RPE#2 Steve can be had for the right player(s). Remeber, patience is a virtue. The Maloofs in Sac and Cuban in Dallas get a lot of attention and they always look like they are doing so much but combined they have 0 titles while Les,CD, and Rudy have given us 2 championships and I'm sure they are working on getting us another one. We are one of 5 franchises to win a championship in the last 15 NBA seasons Sorry its so long, I just had to get this stuff off my chest.
The Rockets franchise is the best one in existence. I suport everythign they've done, been a little annyed by things like passing on Lewis, but the only time I've been really pissed is with the new logo. Rocketeer's version is 10x better and if the new uniforms aren't awesome, they'll have let a lot of die-hards down, me especially
