Is the FBB sim moving too quickly?

Discussion in 'Fantasy Sports' started by Band Geek Mobster, Jan 31, 2002.

?

How many days should we sim per session?

  1. Don't change anything, 10 days is fine.

  2. Slow it down to 5 days.

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the quick pace that we're going at now.

We're simming 10 days per real day, the regular season is only 120 days so a regular season only lasts 12 days in real time.

Should I go with just 5 days or 10 days per session?

Just wanting to get the opinions of people that don't go into the chatroom that often...

I would be happy with either or, but if I had to make a decision, I'd select a five day sim.

I like it the way it is so far. But lets not try to do offseason all in one day, make it at least 2 or 3...maybe re-sign one day, free agency another, and rookie draft another. That would make the entire season and offseason about 2 weeks.

An entire season in 12 days? That's less than two weeks!

I think we need to slow it down. Otherwise, the championship starts to become meaningless.

I'd like to slow it down. My team is really slumping now, and I'd like to have more than one night to turn it around before five more games pass. I think the general competitiveness of most people will rise if you sim regularly, but slow enough that some of the not so active posters have time to adjust and improve as the season goes along.

Ah, I like the way that the basketball and baseball sims move quickly. Let's face it, the real change in teams is in free agency and the draft. Sure trades make a difference, but I don't think we'd see the # of huge trades rise with a longer season.

If we had more personal control of a team... like, could really coach every game... a slower season might make a difference. But when rosters matter more than strategy... I gotta go with faster seasons.

10 days is fine, I like the pace it is moving along. Maybe you could sim two 5 day sessions with an hour or two in between, then changes could be made, even trades for those who are trigger happy.

Well I've decided to go with 5 days and ignore the poll because I would like to give the GM's that can't check the BBS as frequently as others a chance to make trades and changes.

I know sometimes it takes quite a few days to negotiate a trade in the sim, and it wouldn't seem right for half the season to be over before you can make a trade to benefit your team.

So I'm going with 5 days, I hope the 10 day guys don't mind.

Also, I won't be simming until really late tonight, probably early morning because I'm busy working on ratings.
