No, not even close. And they were my favorite band in High School. Led Zeppelin gets my very musically uneducated vote for GOAT band. Opinions will wildly vary.
Tswif goes hoooordt, no cap. Don't tell anybody I said that though. The Cure is one of the bands where I like some of their songs A LOT but their albums as a WHOLE have me losing interest. Their biggest contribution to my musical journey was Robert Smith telling people My Bloody Valentine had a good WHOLE album.
Guys the music video for this song goes so hard! They did a remix last night of this on 1st wave Sirius XM and it was badass. I think their 80s stuff go the hardest.
for me its either the beatles or the cure. those are probably my two most listened to bands in my life. and robert smith doesnt get enough credit as one of the greatest songwriters ever.
This morning I listened to "The Head On The Door" on the way to taking my kids to school as my 16yr old daughter wore her Cure shirt. I own 3 Cure shirts (1 is 35yrs old so I actually don't/can't wear it anymore). But to answer your question, I would not consider them the greatest band of all time. I'd say the Beatles are the greatest rock band. Rush is up there definitely. I'd say The Smiths are the best pop band. But the cure is truly great.
Love the Cure but I don't think they're the greatest. Hard to put a label on just one as the GOAT though.
i was actually listening to the glove-blue sunshine last week. its the album that bob smith and steve severin (siouxsie and the banshees bassist) put out in 1983. super psychedelic and weird. they supposedly took acid every day for a couple weeks and made this album.
Good lord no. I was never into depressing music like them or The Smiths/Morrisey. I'll admit "Friday I'm in Love" is a good song but I really can't stand the rest.
My fave bands in high school were the Cure, REM, U2, Prince, and the Smiths. Saw them all live back in the day and I still like them but only the Smiths continue to blow me away.
