The last foul on Yao big Ben was clearly standing in the circle. Does the circle rule only apply to Yao when he is on defense?

It wasn't a charge call so the circle doesn't matter.

That foul had nothing to do with the circle and everything to do with Yao trying to behead Ben.

Yao should have just gone with the easy hook but...eh I dont know what he was thinking.

Dont get me wrong though. Yao gets called for some of the most stupidest fouls I have ever seen.

He didn't try to behead Ben. He spinned to the baseline and stepped on Ben's reaching out foot then lost balance. It should've been a tripping or just no-call. Ben's foot got stumped and had to go out.

    it doesn't help that Yao's 7' 6"......
when he made his turn, ben wallace's face was right up in the way. Yao has almost a foot in height on wallace.

Anyone who's every played against kids or opponents much shorter than them knows that it's not that easy to maintain balance when you are constantly being tripped, nudged, and undercut. And smaller defenders always get away with playing overly physical or borderline dirty b/c of the David vs. Goliath perception in the officiator's mind. Can only imagine how frustrating it must be for Yao. Old school Akeem would already have decked out several players and spit in the face of refs two seasons ago.

Agreed. Ben stuck out his foot when Yao was turning. It should be a defensive foul.
