Wathcing the Suns-ROx game last night got me thinking about Franchise's game. No one can question he is a superstar player and the Rockets are infinitestinally better with him as our PG. But is he a good passer? Marbury was making some jaw dropping passes last night, threading the needle, etc. I sledomly hear myself say, "Damn... did you see Stevie's pass!" Is this an aspect of his game he needs to work on or is it the lack of ball movement and cutting by the other 4 people on the court? Steve is averaging 6.6 assists, which is better than most of our past PGs. Actually, Steve's game reminds of Hakeem's. Like Hakeem, both did not play organized ball from a young age. Both have had to learn a lot during their NBA careers. Stevie is a new breed of PG, it will be interesting to see how his leadership and game evolve... hopefully as a Houston Rocket.
I think he is a good passer, look at Cato and his dunks....I just think that he sometimes tries the fancy pass when the normal one would do. DD
He's a good passer, but not a smart one. He needs to learn how to run a fastbreak if he ever wants to be a true PG. He does a below average job of setting the tempo of the game.
