CD said somewhere around Jan 15. I like his game too, he should provide some defense, toughness and finishing in Yao's absence. Maybe he cuts into Chuck's PT. I don't see McGrady, Battier or Wells losing PT. JHo is also playing well. We should go small.
We don't know about how Snyder is right now. Why? Because there isn't a dedicated thread on his recovery.
snyder will be most beneficial on defense, so we won't have opposing guys posting up luther head every single possession. plus he's one of the only guys who consistently attacks the basket on our team (outside of yao, he might be the ONLY one)
I dont see him cracking back into the rotation. Maybe as a specialty player. But we already have the leagues best defense! Gonna have to leave Wells or Head in there to maintain a shooting presence. Snyder doesnt have a mid range game and his 3pt is streaky and dependent upon Yao finding him open.
At this point, I'll put Snyder over Wells if Bonzi doesn't get himself in gear. Bonzi's been even more inconsistent and his jumper is even worse. He's a better rebounder but Snyder has more size and quickness. Also, he slashes to the basket which is something this team desperately lacks outside of T-Mac and the occasional Alston drive. Bonzi's post-up game is miles ahead but he hasn't been so great in the post like he has in the past. Bonzi still has time to shape up and get in gear but he really needs to hurry up. The guy has a unique skillset that we could really use since we have no post presence with Yao injured. Also, our offense is so stagnant without a post player to draw double teams and kick it out. When Bonzi is at his best, he's capable of doing just that.
Snyder is Bonzi lite. Like someone above said - trade bait - that's what I expect Snyder to be. We dont need him.
That's what I remember as well. One thing to keep in mind with Snyder though, he broke a bone in his SHOOTING hand. And he doesn't have much of a left hand. So it may take a while for him to come around shooting wise to get his shooting stroke back. And he may be a bit hesitant to drive the lane initially since that's how he broke his hand to begin with. Just getting him on the court as a body with size that can guard the perimeter certainly will be a good start though.
I believe you should take another look at Snyder's game. His midrange game is his strength; plus he attacks the basket with reckless abandon. So that makes one guy on our roster who can do that. (Maybe Bonzi in time, but not yet...) Snyder also makes us instantly better on defense. He is the best athlete we have on our roster, bar none. Great weak side shot blocker, strong, quick... I agree he is a streaky 3 pt shooter, but beyond that I disagree.
Whenever he comes back I feel certain that he will be reinserted into the lineup. He won't lose his roster spot just because he got injured. It just gives us that much more depth to compete with teams like Phoenix, Dallas and San Antonio.
Head and Bonzi will lose some minutes. Head because of the defensive size, Bonzi because he's not very good.
FYI... CD was on 610 radio this morning and he said Snyder has been cleared by his doctor to use his broken hand and that he has begun shooting with it again. I.e., if we assume 2-3 weeks rehab, then the mid january target is a reasonable statement.
