I heard critics over the summer question whether Scola is big enough to be an NBA power forward. Based on the picture below of him standing next to Oberto (6'10") and Ginobili (6'6"), I don't think his size is an issue. He appears to be the same height as Oberto. If Oberto is 6'10" and is considered a center, how could Scola be considered an undersized PF?
well truthfully scola just looks the same height and size as oberto because him and ginobili are closer to the camera (you know, perspective..) but yeah i don't think his size will be that much of an issue.
oh yeah, the cameraman is probably closer to 5'10" so if you know what i mean Scola and Ginobili are actually significantly shorter than Oberto since they appear to be the same height. Oberto has 3 inches on Scola.
I agree that it shouldn't be an issue. However, when I look at the frontcourt players the Spurs have (Duncan, Oberto, Horry, Elson, Mahinmi, Bonner), it makes me think we should still be looking to add at least another big. McGrady made a similar statement even after the acquisition of Landry and Scola.
I disagree about the 3 inch height difference. I think they are practically the same height. Here is another pic, minus the confusing perspective: Notice that Scola's head is leaned down and Oberto has to reach up to put his arm around him. Plus, in the original pic, Oberto appears to be looking up to Scola.
That picture always throws me off. Chuck is 6'8 from the side but appears to be slouching, and is 6'7" from the front with no apparent slouch.
are you out of your mind??? of course he isn't an undersized PF: We all know that he is a POINT-FORWARD.. end of discussion.. the question u should be asking right now is: who is a better Point forward: Scola or Tmac?
The angle that the camera is taking the picture from can change his apparent height fairly drastically.
