is he just useing the rockets and dallas to make Seattle give in???? i realy don't think that he has any intent of comming to houston, dallas i don't know. but i would be realy happy if he did come here i just don't see it.
He's certainly using Dallas, but not Houston. The reason he's not using Houston is because we haven't even offered him a contract. We're talking S&T, which will require Seattle's participation. That isn't much in leverage to get him a higher salary from Seattle. The threat to sign as an FA in Dallas is leverage. And while he may only be using Dallas to get more money, he may end up with Dallas in the end. There have been precedents of teams that were being used in this way and ultimately got the player. Shandon Anderson did that with Houston and Utah.
I think Rashard will use Dallas to get the only thing it would take to keep him in Seattle (mo money, mo money, mo money). But he wants to come to Houston. Right now CD is dancing on the phones to see what he can manage. I think the only way we get Rashard (long shot) is if Seattle decides to blow up the team (including Payton, who hasn't been offered an extension) and trades both Shard and Glove (here I'm referring to ESPN Insider's speculations, to which I lend this much credence: if the Sonics wanted to keep Payton long-term, they should've let him know by now). A 3-way trade would have to be involved, and I don't know who all we'd give up (KT, Rice, draft pick, T-Mo?). But never underestimate the power of Mark Cuban: "You want toys? We got toys! DVDs, Playstation, right in your locker! You want money? I got money! I'll give you $15,000,000 now, then the max for seven after three! What've you got to lose? Come on down! Mark Cuban SPENDS...HIS...MONEY!"
we need to forget about rashard and move on. lets target a defencive stopper (raja bell, bryon russell) for a poriton of the MCE.
juan is probably right, and though i think he'll stay in seattle, i'd prefer him to go to dallas, if not here. imo, the rockets will make the playoffs anyways but him leaving seattle knocks them right out and dallas is ahead of us anyways. in the long run(when the rocks are seriously contending) he's the not the guy who puts dallas over the top. i believe we have the upperhand in the future.
I agree that Lewis is using Dallas to try to get more money in Seattle. However, I think he would rather play in Dallas then play in Houston.
I hope he is just using us. I really don't want Lewis on our team. That being said, this forum is getting a little too boring lately. I hope somethng happens with 'Shard soon. ...and back to the hangout I go...
