    Now that she has been in the spotlight, what do you guys think, is Palin positive or negative for the McCain campaign?

    Surely she has energized his base, which I believe is what she was brought in to do, but her lack of worldly understanding (I don't think she is stupid, just uniformed) hurts them with knowledgeable voters.

    So, in a purely unscientific poll, do you think she is a boon or an anchor on the ticket?

    She was positive for a couple of weeks then reality finally set in.

    See, I actually think McCain was spot on in bringing her in......his base was not enamored with him as the candidate and she brought them into the fold.....

    What I think he miscalculated on was independents - and how unprepared she really is.......which is why she is being sequestered......she is just uninformed about things outside of Alaska...

    Personally, I think she is a negative, but only slightly, because it did energize their base....

    She is one of the biggest reasons the Republican ship is sinking. She is a looney but we should be thanking her for it.

    If McCain didn't accept public financing, she would've been a big positive for McCain to raise 100 million dollar war funds.

    I think it's positive for the GOP in the sense of cauterizing the approach of choosing the most idiotic and vapid of candidates and assuming that women will blindly flock to her as some symbol of justice.

    I don't know, her net fav unfav's are strikingly high and I think she had a lot to do with the record Sept fundraising effort by BO which is crushing McCain now on TV airtime - in fact I logged on an donated an extra chunk right after her grating, nasty convention speech which unlike the TV punditocracy I found pretty revolting.

    She's Bush with a bush you could say.

    Anyways, that interview was tough to watch. While the interviewer did ask a truly asinine question, worthy of an Ali G interview, there was no mention of Ayers and no reason to bring it up. Why didn't McCain step in??

    I think at the time she was brought in there were a few issues:

    Energy Prices Concern
    Conservative Base
    Disenfranchised Hillary Supporters

    A few months back Energy was the key topic on EVERYONE's mind.
    If energy had remained the primary issue, Palin does have experience
    in and showcases the US domestic drilling issue.

    The fact that there was a severe financial meltdown in the banking system
    all the above three issues became secondary to stability in the global and
    credit markets.

    It was a tactical move that looked genius when it first occured and I believe would have won them the election if now for the credit crisis that is first and foremost in every American's mind.

    Mitt Romney as the GOP nomination would have CLEANED up as the pres/vice pres candidate. His level of understanding makes these four look elementary in nature. I think we all as a nation are worse off for him not being in this race.
