I guess I haven't been keeping up with all the summer gossip like I have in the past, but has Mo even been talked about as an available commodity to other teams? He's got to be one of the best guys available that haven't committed to a team. Nobody ever seems to mention Mo as one of the guys people are looking at. I realize he kind of came out and said he wants to stay in Houston, but you don't even hear about other teams having any interest at all in him (save the remarks about how you think Mo sucks, and nobody wants him please). On another note, it seems everyone around here is kind of assuming that we'll be able to get Mo no matter what for next year. Doesn't anyone remember who Mo's agent is? Isn't anyone worried at all that Falk is going to make it tough for us? When guys like Eddie Robinson and Todd MacCullough (sp) are pulling down 5 mil a year, what does that say about Mo's worth? I wouldn't hesitate to say that Mo is twice the player each of those guys are. Falk has a much longer history of being a pain in the ass during negotiations than Fegan does. Are we taking Mo for granted? ------------------ "I guess that's YOUR theory"
I think the fact that he's taken such a pro-Houston stance has not only deflected some teams interest, it has also quieted fears about his agent. Consider that what Taylor said is most definetly not what his agent probably wanted him to say. Look at Robinson is doing in San Antonio, that is what you do to drive up your cost. That is what Taylor would be doing were he truly under the sway of Falk the Greedy, not professing this love of Houston. Also notice that we have not really heard much from Falk concerning Taylor. ------------------ It was the time of the preacher, in the year of '01 Now the preachin' is over, and the lessons begun . . .
I think the Rockets have gotten on the happy side of Mr. Falk, especially with the acquring of Griffin, who is represented by the moster merger of Tellem and Falk. With NY and Orlando out of the picture, the only team left to really worry about making a push for Mo would be Detroit. Or, the Rockets and Mo are agreed, but they can't officially agree to terms, because anything larger than the MCE would require a renouncement/resigning of Dream first. ------------------ "I always thought Hakeem was the better offensive player and DRob the better defender." Spurever Shaq would probably agree.
I also don't the feeling that Mo thinks quite as highly of his position as last year. Contrast all of the 'Max' talk with the Clips and the 'I'm signing for 1 year so I can get big money next year' talk with the 'Houston hasn't seen the best of me yet, last year I was feeling stuff out' talk of this summer, and you get the impression of a person less sure that the statistics support amazing amounts of cash. ------------------
