In two of our 5 wins (Titans and Bills), he's brought the team back to victory after horrendous first half starts. In 3 straight losses (Jax, Arizona, INDY), he's put the Texans in position to tie the game before the end of regulation. Only one of those times you can arguably blame him for not executing (overthrowing OD in the end zone against ARI). In two of those 3 losses (Arizona and Indy) again, he brought the team back to tie or take the lead after a horrible first half.

I'll say that I am more than confident with him at QB with the game on the line. Is he Brett Favre or Peyton Manning clutch? No. But I do see that he has it in him to be that good. What do you think?

He made some plays that I'd never think he could make yesterday, like the one scramble on the last drive where he ended up dumping it to Slaton. That's the type of plays I think that separate the adequate from the good to greats.

    agreed.

the offense is entirely inconsistent. one week it's the first half where they score points in bunches...the next week it's the second half. i don't think that makes matt clutch. but i think matt is an excellent quarterback...

I think clutchness is overrated, because it's hard to define. I will say that Schaub at the very least isn't fazed by pressure. And that he remains composed no matter the situation.

And this year Schaub's showing quite a bit that he can lead an offense despite having absolutely no running game. Imagine what he can do with less pass rush and more playactions.

To early to tell for me. I haven't seen him in enough big games yet.

Too early to tell. Daniels (was) & Johnson are clutch, that I can tell.

And if there was a great QB for just about every franchise then it would make a difference. But after Manning and Brady it kinda drops off.

True, but the evaluation is accurate regardless.

disagree, farve, brees, mcnabb, warner, even rivers to a certain extent (his team generally falls apart), there are some really good if not great qbs in this league

Out of that list I would take brees, mcnabb and rivers over Shaub.

However , you forgot one----> Rodgers (over all of them)

Yeah, and the second tier of QBs includes Rodgers, Warner, Brees, Rivers, and sometimes a McNabb.

Schaub is right there trying to get in on that 2nd tier.

The Texans would not be infinitely better with anyone in that 2nd tier over Schaub. Now, you wanna start lookin at the OLine, or the RB spot then sure. Lots of room for improvement.

What was so good about that play? It went for no gain and burned 20 seconds. He could have thrown it out of bounds and had less chance for a turnover.

The fact that he was able to avoid a game ending sack right there says alot
