I watch the Rockets religiously and the NBA in general, but I didn't know Martin was this good. I knew he scored a lot, but he is just so smooth! We haven't had a player like him since probably T-Mac in 2004. One thing I have noticed is how bad the refs call the game in relation to Martin compared to Brooks. Its amazing how players can get a reputation and it sticks with them. Martin gets so many more calls than Brooks. Maybe Aaron can learn some of Martins tricks to get more calls. If Aaron can get to the line 7-10 times a game, our backcourt will be one of the best in the league next year!
On the contrary, I was surprised at how bad his shooting had been these first few games. Kevin Martin before this season was godly in terms of efficiency. Can get a lot of shots. High shooting percentage. Can get a lot of 3 point shots. High 3 point percentage. Can get a lot of free throws. High FT shooting percentage. So far, he's still not delivering to his potential.
I guess I'm more gearing my post to tonights game, and the fact of comfort on his new team as reason for is poor shooting in the other games. The great thing is that he will get his points even if he is not shooting well.
Yeah, the only bad thing is that now games are going to be 30 minutes longer because martin keeps going to the line.
Martin was injured 5 games into the season and only came back January 15th. He's still working himself back to what he was in October. During those 5 games, Kevin averaged 30.6 points per game and 9.8 trips to the line. That's the kind of player we got, folks. Look to the future.
Actually, if Martin doesn't disappoint, you should be seeing a lot more stat lines similar to tonight's game. Even in the past, this is a pretty normal good game for him. I'm hoping that his shooting really is injury-related. Because he hasn't really shot that well throughout the season. He does need to shoot better in general to live up to Morey's expectations.
Remember, Kevin Martin was scoring 24.6 points on 15.9 shots last season. That is obscene efficiency. He's only 27, so the only reason for him to fall of a cliff would be his injury, which is not chronic or something that is likely to be an enduring problem. I fully expect him to get back to 25 on 16, if not better, on a nightly basis next season.
Yeah they have the same basic build. Not a bad comparison at all, similar looking form on their shot. English could really fill it up. Pretty big compliment really, English could score the ball with the best of them
Aaron Brooks Kevin Martin Kyle Lowry Trevor Ariza Chase Budinger Is a beautiful core... I am excited... Let's get that defensive beast down low to go with Yao...
Precisely! And that's what he impresses me most.Martin has so much potential that you can never expect!
he probably won't be back to top shape until next season, which is fine because that's when we get yaozer back!
