It is worth buying the xbox 360 core system or better to just go ahead and get the most expensive one?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd say go ahead and buy the more expensive one, it comes with a headset, HDTV wires in case you have an HDTV or are planning on getting one. You would probably end up shelling out more buying stuff seperately.

If you want to save games, the premium system is the better deal.

Fanatic is right. The Core will, eventually, lead you to at least buying the hard drive. (Even the regular memory cards are almost 50 bucks).

And to get the most out of the system - particularly in terms of online - you will want the hard drive.

Throw in the fact that the premium comes with the wireless controller, headset, component/composite cables, ethernet cable and possibly some other things depending on where you buy it, it is a much better value.

Definitely. And you should get it from Costco.

In fact I've been playing GOW all weekend. Most relaxing weekend I've had since last May. It feels so good!

    Thanks for the info.

My worry is that if I buy the core system, I'll end up spending money to upgrade it anyways, so just curious if most people who bought the core ended up doing an upgrade later.

Any reason why I should get it from costco?

YES so just in case anything happens to it you can either exchange it for a new one or simply return it.

Flyer, I don't have Live yet. I'll get it next month though.

I just bought another wired controller for my 360. I can't believe it was only 9 dollars less than the wireless. The only reason I went with wired is because i hate having to replace batteries. I hated my wireless mouse i used to use.

u need the harddrive and you need hdcables (component) and you might want the wireless controller instead.
that would cost you way more than the premium.

trust me, i bought the core system back when the premium was impossible to find. and i had to hunt down the hard drve and buy the other stuff.
    it wasnt cheap.

the core is pointless because essentially the 360 is pointless without an hdtv. i know tinman agrees there.

you'll definitely want/need a harddrive eventually and you need the hd cables. getting those two in addition to the core system will cost more then the premium and you still don't have a wireless controller or a headset.

in other words get the premium.

The core system doesn't come with those cool accessories like a power cord, a CPU, or controller slots. You have to buy all that stuff extra...

i just picked up a premium system from microcenter over the weekend for $230! they are having a promo right now where you get $100 rebate. you can also get $100 cash back reward if you open a bank of america card and use that to purchase the system. you will get the cash back reward after your first statement and than can close the account.
