They are not making the playoffs this year, but has defeated contenders recently. Their future looks serious.
I hate that this thread will not be serious. Everyone can gush about Anthony Davis, but I was seriously impressed with Darius Miller. The last Kentucky kid in the 2012 draft has emerged! Also Anthony Davis is pretty cool
In looking at their schedule, they've lost 8 in a row, twice this season. Both pretty brutal stretches. As NOP starts building around Brow, they could be a scary team in 2-3 years. Get a decent tweener in the upcoming draft, give the Pellies a year to gel = playoff team. Holiday Gordon / Evans Draft Pick / Aminu Anderson Brow Hope Brow can put some muscle on though, relatively quick.
Long term -- sort of! Any team with Anthony Davis is going to be good. However, their front office seems to be completely idiotic. I'm not sure if a team could lose a trade worse than they lost the Holiday deal with the Sixers. They have no cap space and a lot of money tied up in the likes of Gordon, Evans and Holiday. They have no 1st rounder this offseason. Rough stuff. Reminds me of the garbage Dream and Garnett often found themselves surrounded by. The basketball fan in me hopes they get their act together for Davis's prime. The Rockets fan in me hopes they hire Isaiah Thomas whenever they inevitably fire their current inept GM.
OMFG. Carl how low you have sank. The Pelly's traded away Noel and their first round draft pick this season. And they are capped out on salary. Just saying. LOTTO TEAM indefinitely in the west.
They're squandering Davis' talent. I only hope he realizes that and signs elsewhere (preferably out East).
I think they're fine as long as Gordon buys into the team and ownership is willing to pay to win. They'll be able to re-sign Davis even if they're over the cap. Evans seems to have turned a corner, he seems to be willing to try to change his selfish play. Holiday is an above average starter. Gordon is an above average starter. They're all overpaid, but they are also definitely capable of being starters on a contender. I like that Gordon and Evans are good passers for their positions. I just hope Davis doesn't put on too much weight. The variety of ways in which he attacks is such a huge advantage, and is making him unguardable. Moreover, his legs do not seem like they will hold much more weight, and adding too much mass will make his injury problems worse and his mobility less. He's not that good a post player to need all that muscle - I think he needs to keep working on his overall game and just add a bit of lean muscle to both his upper and lower body. Have you seen this kid sprinting down the court? Driving past big men? Rising for a jumper? It would be a real shame if he started getting bulky and relying more on touches in the post. It's not worth losing all those strengths in the hopes that he will develop a post game - something current NBA rules don't even favor, and he'd still have to refine his actual post moves. I do think the team needs a better coach though.
Yes, it's time to take them seriously, they will be in the playoffs next year. Not time to take repetitive thread titles seriously, though...
Bwahahaha! Seriously? Take NO seriously? There are so many problems with the team it is ridiculous: 1) Their FO is inept, that Louis Williams trade pretty much killed all hope of contention before it even began. Think about it, if they kept Noels (undisputed no. 1 pick if he wasn't injured), he'd have been the perfect C to Davis, this is esp. true considering Davis has all around skills himself including a J. Not only that they would also have been worse this season and added another pick, a wing player from this draft, Davis, Noels and Gordon and this team would easily supplant GSW and Portland as the "it" teams next year. Instead they traded all that for Loius Williams, an above average starter pg making the max. Dude isn't even better than Kyle Lowry imho. 2) They're ruining Davis' career, it'd be like if the some other team got Dirk Nowitzki and tried to make him a Center. The guy is clearly the 2nd coming of KG, he should be working on his all around game instead of being converted into a center. His body type is not built for the center spot, just take a look at his legs! Putting on weight to jostle with Cs would just lower his mobility and make him injury prone, he should remain lean and have an all around game just like KG, instead they're trying to make him DH and put another stretch 4 to "build around him". WTF, say hello to another amazingly gifted big man whose career will be cut short due to injury.
1) I could not agree with you more -- but I think you meant Jrue Holiday. 2) I don't agree with this, but I don't feel real strongly about it either way. He seems to bulking up reasonably well so far to me. He is still pretty young. By the time he is 22 he may have the body to play center just as well as Duncan or Dream.
I don't understand why some of y'all are saying Davis's career is being ruined. If that dude gets some bulk, a post game and maintains his defensive abilities, he has the potential to become the most dominant player of this decade. Did you guys see how the speed of his rotations and arm length totally negated CP3's midrange game? unbelievable...
One superstar, only one draft pick in next two years, little cap space, and bad contracts that will make it difficult to trade for a superstar. I think Pellies are still two years from playoffs.
