Is it still make or break for T-Mac?

A lot of people felt that McGrady's future with the Rockets would depend on whether we make it out of the first round this year.

With expectations obviously reduced, what does that means for T-Mac's future with the team?

it doesn't matter. what the last 4 seasons have shown me is that tmac and yao are unable to stay healthy for an entire season.

it should put into perspective if we should keep investing in these 2 guys or move on. but the depression may be getting to me but i'm sure les and morey are thinking the same thing.

I have no doubt he will be traded in the offseason now. In fact he will probably welcome a trade now.

It's not his fault that Yao is hurt. We are playing great with both of them, I say keep them and continue to tune-up the surrounding cast

People cannot expect TMAC to carry this team through the playoffs. It's unrealistic given the strength of the Western Conference. If we were in the east, it would be a different story

Man i just feel bad for the entire team. I feel bad for tmac because this year was gonna be the year where we not only made it out of the first round but also got deep in the playoffs and now there is a good chance he will not even be here next year. Mac may never play for a contender again. I feel bad for deke because this is going to be his last year, he came back for one more season because he loved playing for the rockets, even though he is oldest player in the league, and it would have been nice to see him get a ring. And I also feel bad for yao, not only because he got hurt, but if mcgrady does get traded this offseason i think it will come down hard on him. He's going to feel guilty for ruining the rockets season and getting tmac traded even though its not his fault.

No. Unless some crazy unknown scenario occurs...no.

I think there's a good chance this spells the end for the Yao-TMac era of the Rockets. I suppose they may run the duo out there one more time next year, but the fans have just been crushed by these injuries so many times now that it's going to be nearly impossible to build any real excitement or buzz around the team, especially now when the best buzz they've had in years has been so dramatically snuffed out. Yao and Tmac are good players and good people. Yao got me back into the Rockets after I tuned out of the Wink-Cat years. Unfortunately for everyone, it's now clear that these two simply aren't going to win a championship or make a deep playoff run. They simply can't stay healthy, and all the wishing in the world isn't going to change that.

As a big fan, I really, really, really don't want to see Yao go. I don't see any alternative for the Rockets to improve, though. I think that the best-case scenario is for the Western Conference playoffs to be the most hotly contested playoffs in history this year and for GMs and owners to go absolutely bonkers and try to reloud any way they can, with teams like the Nuggets or the Warriors or the Hornets going insane and trading young players and draft picks for a McGrady or Yao in hopes of keeping up with the Joneses. Whether Yao and Tracy stay or go, though, in a couple of years the Rockets will be rebuilding with nothing of much value to show for two "superstars" that simply didn't pan out.

It's a damn crying shame. :( Yao deserves a better career than he's getting. The fact is, though, that the NBA is getting smaller and faster. If the Rockets could manage to draft a stud point guard like Chris Paul or somebody and trade Yao or Tracy for a Josh Howard, they might be able to compete again in a few years. It kills me to say it, but I just have no hope left for 111 to win a championship. It died today, officially.

It was never make or break for T-Mac. Morey will consider his options regardless of what happens to the Rockets record-wise this year. If there is a deal out there that makes us better, then he will consider dealing T-Mac. If there isn't one, he won't. And so far from every potential deal out there, there isn't one. Give Morey some credit. Imagine what he could do with another year of free agency and draft-picks and just under the radar acquisitions. Next year Scola and Landry will stop getting rookie-calls; Brooks will be ready to take over at backup point; Jackson will be a great expiring deal to use to maybe acquire another piece; and who knows, maybe Francis will pull a Bonzi and get off his butt in his contract year. And that's just the stuff we can predict, think about all the deals that will happen that people won't see coming and will be critical of.

With Daryl Morey I am optimistic about not only our immediate future but also our future as a franchise beyond this era, however it happens to end.

Strange to think we may have already seen Yao and Tracy's final game as teammates.

    :(

No, I agree. Morey's work is encouraging.

At least it's a good memory of them winning 12 in a row. It's only symbolic, but I think they will be friends even though they may not play again together. What a shame. Just when they were clicking.

We've got to rebuild. It's as simple as that. I think McGrady is gone in the offseason. He'll have higher trade value than Yao.

I still think he needs to be moved, although if he doesn't get out of the 1st round he'll get another "excuse" (albeit a good one) for losing in the playoffs.....
