For years now I've always sat in the nosebleed section and the closest I've been during a real game is about 20 rows up and behind the basket. I was on about row 5 for the Katrina Charity game and it was amazing.

Anyway, I've been telling myself that I need to bite the bullet and sit courtside and I figure this season is as good a time as any. I realize they're extremely expensive, but I want to do it anyway. It would probably be part Christmas gift and partially out of my own pocket in order to cover it all.

I see that the tickets behind the basket are 200-ish but I want actual court side, with the possibility of high-fiving players and whatnot.

The problem is that I don't think you can purchase them directly through Ticketmaster, so I figure you have to go on one of those rip-off scalper sites where they probably cost 2 grand or more. As much as I want to go, I can't swing that amount.

Basically I want to know how the hell to get a courtside seat for its actual value, if possible.

You can get them but it will cost you a lot of cash. You can get them through ticket brokers like razorgator.com or stubhub.com

I can tell you that the only way to get a seat in court side row A is to purchase a ticket or be given a ticket from someone who has seats there, and you will probably not find a scalper who has any, due to the fact that in order to have court side row A seats you have to purchase a court side suite.

However you can find seats in row B, C, D, and E. It will just take some time, and if the season tickets are not sold out on the floor call the day of the game and the ticket dept. may be able to help you out.

1k+ huh? I think I'm prepared to pay 1k but over that is pushing it. Of course I'd be going alone for sure at that price lol.

I just feel the need to get this out of my system. I wanted to sit courtside for so long, with nothing (not even a single row of fans) seperating me from the court. Seems like it would be surreal.

The best way to get FANTASTIC seats for less than market value is
at charity events. I know Richard Kinder (of kinder morgan) donates his
4 floor seats to a lot of events. I actually bid $700 for all four of them,
but thought they'd go much higher. They went for only $1100!!

i would think you'd be in the 200-300 price range if you bought directly from the rockets. if people can sit 5th row and see the lakers play for <$300, you should be able to sit there for around that price.

now as far as on the court, row a type seats.... those are hard to come by.

Yeah, there are seats in the row directly behind the bench for like $550 when the Lakers come to town later in the season. Gotta think those would be some pretty interesting tix. Same with the Celtics. However, I have this feeling that if I'm going to drop $600+ on a ticket I might as well go all the way and make it courtside courtside.

Ticket brokers, yep. that's how I've always done it.
Get lucky sometimes and only pay a little over face value, especially if it's right before the game and the opponent is not a top team.

the closest i've sat courtside was at summer league it was the first row behind the bench of the players...but that was 25 bucks at summer league.

closest i've been at a nba game was 7th row..those are my company tickets i got them for the upcoming rockets game here in la!

sitting courtside would be something i would love to do but courtside seats here in LA are ridiculous i remember seeing some last year for the lakers/rockets game going for about 4k or so.

oh and if you do sit courtside make sure you get lots of pics of the RPDS

Kind off topic but do we have our own "Jack Nicholas"? You know, the famous person that is always at the home games sitting court side?

i read somewhere once that if you're going to sit that close, don't sit behind the players. since they're tall it's hard to see over them. though i gotta think it'd be more fun to talk trash to them and miss part of the game rather than not being able to at all.

I sat first row courtside at two preseason games. Im going tonight too! My good ol' pal is up there at LiveNation, and they own 4 seats courtside, and 10 seats that they split with the buzz about 5 rows back, which are also great seats! From my understanding, just about every courtside seat is bought from the beginning of the season to season ticket holders. So yeah the best way would be through a scalper that owns a seat, or someone not using them.

Oh yeah, face value price on the tickets for from row courtside is $950.00

I have sat in the row right behind the opposing player's bench before. Trust me, it's not easy to talk trash to them when they are able to just turn around and kill you. I was probably the most quiet I have ever been at a game.

Are you talking about Jack Nicholson?

    Jack Nicklaus was a golfer.

Does anyone know where the places are to meet scalpers for Rockets tix? Someone had mentioned a couple of places, but I don't remember.

If you mean actual courtside like where they put a chair on the court and you sit in it (Row A) then I think thats pure scalper eBay. Those are like season tickets only.

The behind the bench seats (Row B) are like 350 from the Rockets.

I sat courtside once. Right on the floor, in the first row, few seats away from the mayor of Houston. Best part was that we got it for free! :D

It was me and R0ckets03 and two others. It's a long story about some old geezers telling him to be quiet during a game and security taking their side and being rude to him. He started a thread over here about it, and some Rockets insider e-mailed him and promised him 4 free tickets to seats that'll be really good.

We get to the game and had to meet some Rockets rep (we didn't know where exactly we were sitting just yet), and she led us down and down, until we were on the first row on the floor, right across from the Rockets bench, sitting a few seats away from the mayor!  . Needless to say, that was an unforgetable experience.

We were playing the TWolves by the way, and got to see KG playing against Yao! :)
