I've gotten a few books and dvd's from there before, but I wanted to know with that new virus that hacks into accounts (or does it?) is it any less safe to buy stuff from there then it was before ?

    (stupid me)

    It's always safe with <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox">Mozilla Firefox</a> . . . :)

That virus you're talking about affects Microsoft IIS Webserver and MS Internet Explorer.

Amazon doesn't use IIS, <a href="http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=amazon.com">they run Apache</a> on Linux as their webserver, so their site can't infect you with IE. If you'd been infected before, I think you'd be at risk (not sure) with IE, but not with a better browser. Head on over there with <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox">Firefox</a>, and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/6303521363/qid=1089063555/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-6731398-7898206?v=glance&s=video">pick up something good</a>.

Thanks. I'm not ashamed to admit I don't know much about computers, so I have a couple more questions. So even if I use "IE" it's still okay at Amazon ? Also, can I just download that firefox thing and start using it , for free?

It might be okay. Assuming you haven't been infected already, you should be alright. Even if you have been infected, the site to which it sends the information is down. But Firefox is free, faster, and better. It's a small download.

You could always use the Opera web browser as well. It's great

You're welcome Pun! I'm always glad to hear when someone likes it!!

myco -- Opera is fantastic as well! The thing about Opera (IMO at least), is that out of the box, it's very cluttered and cumbersome. After a few minutes of tweaking, it works great, and it gives you lots of control. You wouldn't go wrong with Opera, but personally, I think Firefox is easier for the average person to pick up and use right from the start.
