Is it me, or are the Rocks settling too quickly?

Ok, guys, I know there are a great numberof you out there who would rather just re-sign Mo-T, but for those of you who don't, does it not seem that the Rockets are settling for not getting Webber at just the wrong time? One by one the suitors for Webb are being eliminated, and fans from all kinds of other cities( including Sacramento) are starting to say that if Webb's leaving, the Rocks are the best bet. Only Detroit, Chicago, and maybe Phoenix now have the cap room, and the others (NY, Orl, ext.) don't have the right fit for sign snd trades...
Chicago and Detroit don't have anywhere near the talent the Rockets have, and Phoenix is still in question (anyone know the numbers?) To me, this is an INCREDIBLE opportunity, and the irony is that fans of other teams seem to see it more than a lot of us.I know Webb hasn't visited us yet, but either he wants to consider us or he doesn't, but didn't he already state that he does? I would apreciate any comments to fill me in on anything I'm missing, 'cause otherwise I don't get the Rockets sudden apathy. Now is not the time to get conservative.

New guy, so go ahead and bash me. The way I see it, this is Steve Franchise's team. Isn't that why a lot of people want Dream to retire or go away? CWebb is supposed to be a franchise player. The money it would probably take to get CWebb, the Rocks could sign Mo, Moochie and the "Dream" who is my all time personal favorite and maybe someone else. I think Griffin will get bigger and be better suited at PF and he is suppose to be a star also so I think Mo with a shorter and smaller contract is a better option.

    Welcome to the board Bill.

    Time to play with tables...

    <table BORDER WIDTH="40%" ><tr><td>Taylor</td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td>Moochie</td><td>is better than</td><td>Webber</td></tr><tr><td>Dream</td><td></td><td></td></tr></table>

Now if somehow we could work a sign and trade for Webber, I might change my stance on his contract, but that seems unlikely at the moment considering the Kings haven't even approached the Rockets about a S like they have with Indiana, Orlando, and New York...

Side Note: Oh yeah! I now know how to make kickass tables, well maybe it's not kickass, but... ah what the hell am I talking about? THAT TABLE IS KICKASS!

BGM, your table gets maybe a "B" (I'm a generous grader) but your ideas are right on. I think we'll sign MoTay and Mooch for sure; where Dream will end up is hard to call, but what a great sit'n for him with Rox now!

Still wouldn't be surprised if CD has a few more moves up his sleeve involving Cato, Los, Walt. [IMG]

Matt Maloney and Kelvin Cato, contracts of death.

Mo seems to be happy here with the direction the team is going. I don't think Webber would be as happy. Plus, I think there is something to him wanting to go East because of the fact that he would be the best PF in the East. Besides does he consider being on a potential championship team or does the night life of the city he plays in more important or for that matter All-Star appearances. I don't know just my opinion.

Webber is unlikely to come here.Mo might go home to the Pistons even after the Cliff Robinson signing.Griffin will have to play as a SF for some time before he can move to the 4 spot.KT can be a good reserve PF.
Mo obviously has his weaknesses but might be our only choice unless they can sign and trade him for another PF.

I think the Rockets are also worried about getting another Pippen. Not that Webber has a bad attitude, or would be a bad guy or anything, it's just that we've been burned before by a FA. I don't think the Rockets want to take a chance on the "big name, shopping free agent" right now.

I think timing is more of an issue with Webber. With so many suitors, Webber may take his time to sort things out. If the Rocks go after Webber and don't get him, Taylor may be long gone by the time they get around to him.

IMO, by getting Webber the Rox may turn into a "Trailblazers" team. Too many scorers, not enough team work, not enough basketballs.
