Is it just me or has Greg Anthony turned into a really good commentator?

I've been watching TV all day and was struck how much better that Greg Anthony sounds whenever he does commentary/interviews/analysis etc these days. I never thought that he was that good before but he was all over the A. Davis story and has doen a hell of a job - much better than Barkley or Stephen Smith or Tom Tolbert will do/would have done) - he's up there with David Aldridge at this point as my favorite NBA guys.

Has he always been this good or is this just me?

i would agree that he is much better than stephen a. smith and tolbert, but i cannot STAND either of those guys so i guess im a little biased. Tolbert is such a freaking fool! I definitely like listening to anthony more than legler, stupid bill walton, or any of the other espn basketball guys except for david aldridge.

I know a lot of people can't get past Smith's personality, and that's fine, but that's a pretty good show.

I don't mind him on "quite frankly" I just don't like him as the go-to NBA guy on ESPN.

He's always in Stephen A's shadow...the guy SAS b****es at even when they both agree.

I think by virtue of their weak cast, Greg Anthony gets a pass.

So I'm not sure whether he's truly a good commentator or just the guy that's least hated...

greg anthony and david aldridge are the ONLY two guys i listen to when it comes to nba basketball insights or news and bill worrell for the rockets. to me, others are just a bunch of crap. barkley, kenny smith, stephen a. smith, tom tolbert, bill walton, stu jackson, and all others can just suck a big fat one!

Greg Anthony is a Rocket-hater. But that probably doesn't matter to a lot of people around here, since we're a bunch of fairweather fans anyway.

Greg Anthony is okay except when he's giving out his opinion, which is either totally obvious or totally wrong.

G-Money is a heck of an analyst, and he comes across more polished because of his excellent communication skills; he's just an excellent communicator, the language comes easy to him. Can't quiet say the same about Sir Charles, who can't finish a thought before he leaps to another one in mid-sentence.

Never really liked him. He still gives watered down answers and I often find him repeating himself. Plus as others have said he's a Rocket hater. During our win streak when Tmac and Yao were playing healthy, he still said we sucked and wouldn't make the playoffs. Unless he could look into the future and predict toe surgery for Yao, and Tmac having backspasms again (probably a bit more predictable given his history :( ), then I'd understand. But that was never the backup reasoning for his argument on why the Rox wouldn't make a push. He just plain said they sucked, healthy McGrady and Yao, or not.

Yeah, Anthony is a consistent Rocket hater, and everyone knows it. But like I said, they don't care because most people around here have turned into Rocket-haters themselves.

Speaking of Barkley, man is this guy an idiot or what? They asked him to point to point out Argentina on a map, and he points to Bangladesh, all the way on the other side of the planet! He didn't get a single country right - marked Sweden as Congo, marked Argentina as Jamaica, didn't know Georgia was a country ... proving once and for all to the world that he is a complete airhead. LOL!

i like greg anthony. face it people, you are not going to find an analyst who has the exact same opinions as you or is pro rockets. there isn't a "perfect" analyst out there. but i do like anthony. he speaks very well, knows the game very well, and makes a lot of good points.

stephen a. smith is just a jackass. i can't stand him because does anyone really need to yell THAT much on national television? calm down, it's just sports. and as much as i love sports and plan on spending my career in sports in some capacity, there is no need to get that adamant over a game. and you know that your talk show SUCKS when you have to put up the applause sign for the audience to know when you make a good point on a subject. i know it's done in other tv shows but on quite frankly it's just dumb. it just sounds and feels fake. i guess that's enough ranting on stephen a....sorry.

I love the fact that Smith's show is actually averaging LESS viewers than what was in ESPN2's timeslot this time last year -- that is to say, billiards and WSOP repeats.

Once upon a time, he was a brilliant columnist. Then CNN came calling, then Fox, and now ... this.

I agree, I still can't believe that screaming, hysterical buffoon on TV is the same guy whose articles I looked forward to reading years ago.
