Is it a terrible idea to take a six month old baby to Toyota Center?

This question may be a little bit different than traditional posts, but I figure I can get the best answers here. Maybe it should be a Poll. :)

I just had my first baby and she will be 6 months old when the season starts. I think I will be watching most games on TV. But I really want to go at least to a couple of games. Is it a really bad idea to take a six month baby to a game? Will they freak out? Do they have to pay for their ticket? I seem to remember seeing very young and happy babies on the RocketsCam.

    Any input/personal experience is appreciated.

I've been raising two kids, rather late in life, and you would do yourself, the child, and the audience a favor if you left the baby at home. In my opinion.

I would be fine with it. i just think you should have an aisle seat so you can have your baby gear out of the way and you have easy access to the bathroom and changing tables. I would so rather sit next to a baby in an arena than on a plane. Well unless it is my baby.

It's never too early for the kid to learn.

    I've got a 6year old and a 21 year old, my bookends.

    Get a babysitter.

Everyone, including the baby, will enjoy the game more.

At six months? No big deal. Only real problem is they'll probably sleep most of the time, so you won't be able to jump out of your seat... it may also mess up their sleep cycle for a few days, so that could impact you. Took my oldest to an MLB game when she was about that age and she was fine... of course that was in Atlanta where the crowd is deader then Latin.

When the kids start getting mobile is when it gets tough. And when they get to the terrible twos and the oh-so-more-terrible threes, probably best to stay at home.

As Johnny Cash once sang, "L, don't take your babe to town, fan. Leave your babe at home, L. Don't take your babe to town."

Enjoy the game with your spouse!

I'm sure they would allow it, but it might be better to go ahead and find a baby sitter on game night.

That was the song that started ...

"A young Rocket fan named 'Lunatic'
    Grew restless at his home
His boy aged only 6 months
Made it really hard to roam
He logged on Clutchfans and made a post
    And asked everyone around
And the members wrote back to Lunatic

L, don't take your babe to town, fan.
Leave your babe at home, L.
Don't take your babe to town."

    :D ;)

It's my personal belief that children shouldn't be seen or heard until they aren't children anymore.

Get a baby sitter. If your kid cries a lot, it's rude to the people around you. Furthermore, if your tending to your kid (like a good parent should), you won't be able to enjoy the game anyway.

Just too much sound and excitement for a baby to be subjected to. Possible side effects later in life. Babies need a tranquil life as their foundation leading to stable maturity. After the security of the womb, the average bady needs to be reassured that it is now living in a safe environment. A six month old baby should not be up and about in the evening times as late as the completion of the Rockets games, especially if you care about your baby. :p

if you're sitting in the lower bowl of the toyota center, she will enjoy the most peaceful sleep shes ever had....

but if she's a cryer, then you will be getting evil looks from the surrounding crowd for being the noisiest fan in attendance

The only thing that would keep me from taking a 6-month old to a game would be the noise. It gets awfully loud in TC, and it could really freak a young baby out.

I would prefer other people keep their young children out of earshot of me at all times. Few sounds are as annoying as screaming children. Out of consideration to people attending the game who might feel the same, I would suggest leaving the kid at home. This applies to other times you go out as well, to restaurants, stores, and especially movies.
