The year the Rockets made the playoffs Jordan all of a sudden decided to retire. Then Jordan all of a sudden retired when the Spurs won. And then the Lakers won.

Now we hear the talk that Jordan might come back!! Highly doubtful with Shaq waiting in the wings.

He retired after the 92-93 season because his dad was killed. He retired after the 97-98 season because he was physically drained and you could tell that he was in his final game.

If he comes back he won't be the same Jordan, but he'll still be better than almost all of the NBA's players.

Vince- Dream & MJ came into the league the same year. Did MJ somehow realize that the Rockets were going to make it to the finals for exactly 2 years. No I don't think so. If he could see into the future then I don't think he would be such a bad gambler.

NYK is right MJ was tired of b-ball both times when he retired and his fathers death was important to the 1st one as well.

Jordan retired the first time when his father was killed. The Phoenix Suns were expected to make the Finals that year, not the Rockets, so how would he know that a dominant center would play in the Finals? Then he retired in 1999 because the Bulls management were going to break up that team no matter what, and they weren't going to rehire Phil Jackson. That year people expected the Utah Jazz to come out of the West, nobody dreamed the Spurs would come out of the West and win the championship. And how would he know that the Lakers would win the title 2 years later? For Jordan to know all this he would have to be able to tell the future!

Also because he had cut his finger severely(I believe). This injury was said to have some effect on his shot for the finals.

He injured it when his finger slipped and was cut by a Cigar-End Slicer during celebration of winning the Eastern Conference Finals.

Its true the Bulls had trouble with the Rockets while Jordan played but I dont think ANY player would consider retiring to dodge a team or certain player, specially Jordan.

Everyone knows the Bulls had a hard time mathing up with teams with dominate centers or Point Guards but we never meet them in the playoofs where they were at thier best,so we will never know, and thats a shame because even Jordan said he would of liked playing the Rockets in the finals.

I wished I could of seen a Jordan/Dream matchup during 1 of are championship years, but unfortunatly s**t happens!

Jordan played against some pretty good centers in the Eastern Play-Offs though. Robert Parish and Bill Lambeer which he was never able to get past when they were in their prime and then Patrick Ewing during both Jordans and Ewings prime.

Brad Daugherty was a pretty good center as well. I think it just depends on the overall matchup.
