with the coaching decision. He is one of the leaders on this team and he should at least make some comment on the teams decision. I have a feeling Steve is going to come in during training camp and have the big head. He should have been here to welcome the new coach here but he was out promoting a record company thats not showing JVG or the organization that he is happy. I think JVG has to play a father type role on this team he has to make Francis feel like he is the leader. Yao Ming and Steve Francis will have to be leaders on this team and thats it. We have no time for cry babies grow up and play ball!

Im all for Steve and his entrepreneur ambitions. Lets do whats best for him and trade him to New Jersey(for Jason Kidd)where its close to his hometown and to his record label in Hampton Roads.

I wish Steve would be given a chance around here.

People just automatically assume or predict that he is going to cause trouble this year without any type of just cause.

I am convinced that all Steve wants to do is win ball games. If that means shooting only 3 times then he will do it. Steve will buy into JVG's system and this team will win ball games and things will be fine. It's all about the wins. ;)

Why should he be happy? Les tore the heart out of the organization and likely doomed them to another lottery season.

Last time i checked Steve Fransis was a point guard for the Houston Rockets, and not apart of public realations, or a member of the front office, or anything that should suggest he has to invite Jeff Van Gundy for a beer....

This slander is really disgusting. Maybe you would like to share with us your hobbies so we might critize the time you put on them. I dont see the diffrence in steveis interest in his record label and ur interest in posting on this board.

People, lets keep this in perspective here. The man makes millions of dollars to dribble a ball. Of course he is happy.

Yes, I know money does not buy happiness but dam, I would at least attempt to be happy if I was Steve waking up every morning in my mansion, driving in my Ferrari, vacationing in one of my dozen homes or traveling to an exotic lands or taking a private jet where ever I would like.

Geeeeez, having to think about that just makes me want to fall to my knees and sob for Steve. Poor fella.

Yeah, is he happy? WHO CARES!?!

Do your damn job, to the best of your ability ... keep your word hole SHUT, & if you work out, be rewarded in the future.

If you choose to be a whiny b****, & a detriment to the team ... BE GONE!!! That goes for every person on the roster.

I'm sikka this crap. I'm not pro, or anti-Steve. Just put up, or shut up. He's done absolutely nothing to be considered a savior.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs this year, it's just plain sad.

It"s odd that you label Steve & Yao as team leaders and chastise Steve for not showing up to welcome Van Gundy, but say nothing about Yao who wasn't around either. I believe Yao was playing CBA ball (a prior commitment) & Steve was promoting a record company (a prior commitment). What's the difference? If you're going to nail 1 leader, then you have to nail both. Otherwise you're just a STEVE BASHER!!! :p

Well, one can be seen as extra curricular activity, Steve's promoting his record, while the other one was obligation to China, a communist/capitalistic nation which demands Yao to play basketball which was well known before he was drafted.

Yao issued a statement welcoming JVG on Rockets.com shortly after JVG accepted the ofter.

Ditto. If you don't like the way he's played the last few years, he was probably just doing what his coach told him to do. Same with Cat.

Personally I'm witholding judgement on all our players until I see what they can do with a real offensive game plan, instead of Rudys ISO ball.

    Except Moochie. :D

When people bashing Steve, you have to drag Yao in because that people might be a Yao only fan? Could you simply label him a Francis hater instead of Yao only fan? Oh maybe you are a Yao hater?

Anyway, Yao or the Yao team issued a welcome statement on JVG's arrival. Steve also said 'if they are happy, then I am happy.' So I assume steve is happy because CD is happy.

i'm sure ben wallace was sitting right by larry brown's side when he was announced as the piston's coach. how about kobe bryant and shaq, were they standing at the airport when phil jackson arrived in la. what do you people want from steve. my god.

it's gotten way way past flat out stupid what people are coming up with to bash this guy.

Im amazed Im the only one who sees whats wrong with Steve.I dont know wether its the rose colored glasses here or what. There is a huge difference in playing for your countries national team in china and dating a 17 year old wanna be singer that Francis will sign instead of greeting JVG and makeing him feel at home.

Francis flat out cant play defense. Rudys iso ball has nothing to do with Francis bad defense. I know I will be bashed, but next year after another season of lotto, what will be funny is all the people who disagree with me will then agree and never apologize.

Who cares why Yao or Steve wasn't at JVG's press conference, it isn't an indication of class or classlessness unless more facts were known about the case. Plus, it doesn't mean anything concerning basketball. You seem to be ripping on Steve more him putting out a record than his actual on court play.

You did the same thing in the O'neal/Steve trade thread you posted shortly before this one.

And as far as defense goes, please tell me you realize defense is not a hard skill to learn and francis isn't the only superstar player to not play it. Look at Chris Webber in sacramento and Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas and tell me they are outstanding defenders.

Defense is mainly heart and desire along with some coaching, and you will see Steve pick it up rapidly under Van Gundy, or eventually get traded for a superstar who can, which I don't see happening.

As far as the rose colored glasses you were spot on, except it's you whose wearing them while proclaming to be a so called Steve expert and bashing him not on the basis of his actual basketball ability but on his off court skills.

Finally, the rockets will not be a lottery team next year and all this Steve Francis can't be a winner stuff will go away as it should.

The guy has had two winning records in 4 years, and one with with cuttino mobley as his right hand man(granted hakeem showed up big late in the year) and then last year Rudy went out with cancer, and Larry I have no clue what I'm doing Smith tried to lead us to the playoffs, and plus our second best player was a ROOKIE.

Yao Ming is a fine talent and really good player but this was his first year, I seriously wonder what some of you expected out of him and this team before the year.

Bottom line: your Steve bashing is getting ridiculous and meritless at this point.

You are grasping for straws if you ask me.
