I never noticed it before, but comparing him to the opponent game after game Dwight Howard looks rather small to me. Guys like Bargnani and Hibbert, for example, tower over Dwight Howard. Not just the height but also the muscularity. He seems to have lost some mass, even his shoulders don't look giant any more. Another thing is that Dwight Howard seems to lose a lot of jump balls because he is short. He is a top player, of course and still very effective, but it just seems that he has to expend a ton of energy to be this good. Really wish we have a bigger thicker space eater to step in for him-- be it Asik or someone from a trade.
I always thought he was rather short, I think he's closer to 6'10 than 6'11 or 7 foot like a lot of other centers. and you are right even bargs looked bigger
He is the best center in the NBA. And he is only slightly shorter than the Dream. So he has to be the correct size. Right?
Yes, he is. When he was drafted, many people believed he was a PF instead of C. Unfortunately, he couldn't develop the PF skill sets. Hakeem is also 6'10, but dream is far more agile than Howard, and far skilled. There is a reason Howard goes to the weight room so often, he has to combat with lots of players who are taller, and more natural than him in weight. I believe the decline of Howard will be very quick once he loses his power as he ages as he has nothing else to rely on.
Dream is thicker and wider. Dwight Howard is very narrow in the lower body, which contributes to him not being as smooth in his movements.
By the way, I firmly believe that the construction of the Rox team with the core of Dwight and Harden is really not that promising. Both players have major holes in their game. Playoff, yes; championship, no.
If he plays for a team in Florida he will regain superman status again. Local suppliers at every corner, just look at James and Wade.
In photos standing next to Parsons, Dwight looks to be slightly shorter. I fear his overall game will not age well - what will happen when his general athleticism begins to go? In that respect, "L.A. Dwight" may have given a bit of a preview.
If he is so significantly better, Lakers wont' let him go. Let's face it, even if he is the "best", he is only slightly better than those defensive centers as his offensive skills have declined. Defensively, right now, he is not as good as the top defensive centers.
I think he's shrinking. He used to be 6'11. Now he's 6'9. I wonder how tall he'll be by the end of his contract.
He gets pushed around by bigger players. Some of you are forgetting Yao would make him his b**** regularly. He's still great just needs to learn how to handle physical and bigger guys.
According to Draft express Howard is 6' 9" without shoes and 6' 10.25" with shoes. He has a standing reach of 9' 3.5"
Hakeem always looked slender (it was always quite noticeable that he wasn't African American by his frame)....he's no Charles, but maybe hes wider now that he's older (lol).
He looks around the same height as McHale to me... Maybe that's why McHale thought he could be a power forward. He may be around 6'10. Roy Hibbert is a legit 7'2.
