Taken from the very small sample size of the past 5 games, D-Mo has been averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists a game in 15.8 minutes. If one were to double that to 32 minutes, you'd get 19 points, 8 boards, 4 assists. Again, it's a small sample size, but granted the potential and the way we have seen him play in the past, is there a possibility for those numbers to happen? Or will his defense never pan out, always limiting his minutes?
Doesn't matter. It depends on usage and minutes, but he's very tired after a few minutes. He needs to play defense.
Here are some common opinions on the board: Harden is elite. (that's settled) Parsons is a phenomenal value on his contract. (would only move for true elite superstar) Lin/Asik have fair contacts and continue to improve D-Mo/Robinson are showing potential and just need more time to develop So my question is where we go from here: 1. Go after big free agents to improve _________ 2. Keep this team together, sign D-Mo to a contract extension (front load it to use our salary cap space we currently have) and sign some other interesting pieces (wing stopper for example)
D-Mo looks like he will be a19/8/4 player by the end of the season. Next season who knows. Maybe a lot better.
It's called getting into game shape. It was also very evident the Bucks tried to attack Dmo early in the game. Which didn't really work so well, until he got tired and replaced by Trob and hades broke loose.
Well, D-Mo, barring a trade, is a Rocket for the next 3 seasons. Contract extension talks may start in the summer of 2015.
I think he's got skills to get points, but I'm wondering how he gets enough minutes and touches with this current lineup to get those kind of numbers. Unless, he starts at the 4 and spells Asik at the 5 here and there. He's going to have to get stronger.
ilyasova scored jumper after jumper on Dmo to the point Sampson specifically pointed it out during halftime interview, then at the begining of the second half ilyasova hit another two jumpers in front of Dmo and he's subbed by Delfino. In fourth quarter, Dmo missed the pnr coverage, and let Sanders slamed couple crucial dunks. Also Clyde and Worrel mentioned how tired he looked a few times during the game. His stamina and defense has longgggg ways to go, but his offense is pretty good.
His leaving Ilyasova open is a combination of poor guard defense that makes Dmo have to come out harder on a pick and roll and his adjustment to getting back to his man quicker. Ilyasova is a rare thing that Dmo will not always have to guard such a deep threat like him. I was happy with his post D and his willingness to bang down low.
D-Mo was practically running wind sprints out there last night. Getting in shape is one thing, but the guy is 7 feet tall and is trying to run like a gazel. He's going to get winded no matter how hard he trains. As he gets more consistent time, he will be able to build up a more sustainable pace to last 30 to 35 minutes a night. As far as production statistically... who knows. It depends on if he can be featured in the offense consistently, and if he can get to the foul line consistently. That's where all great scorers get that extra 5 to 10 points a night. As a role player, energy big I see him scoring around 10 points, 7 reb, 2 assists a night this season. Next season, it all depends on what kind of Summer he has, and what kind of offensive sets they build into their system next season that feature him more. He definitely has the ability to be a featured player in an offensive system... that's saying alot. If you have the ability to be featured, you have the ability to be an all-star.... and all young players have the ability to flame out pretty quick. I think he's too hard of a worker though and will end up at the very least being a 14 PPG/7Reb/2 Assist per night player. That's not bad.
I think one reason he showed fatigue was 'first start' hype or anxiety. He was just a little over-amped and trying to do everything all out. That showed in his ability to keep the ball alive with tip in's and tap outs and maybe showed in providing too much help on defense and not enough attention to just guarding his position away from the ball. He's got a great career ahead of him. I don't know where I would play a second superstar right now, I really like our starting 5, they just need to grow.
Sample size is too small. Mayo played at allstar level in a much bigger sample size, and now he's nowhere near that kind of production. Beverly had skyhigh PER after a couple games... Don't be too high on Dmo, and don't be too low on Trob.
I was thinking the same thing....what do the Rox do if Monte or Robinson/Jones Pan out??!!With all that cap space you would think they would be inclined to use it......? I would say you could upgrade the pg or C spot but .....Dwight is not coming or is slim chance he will(but who knows really!??) and CP3 is not going anywhere....Why spend money on a Milsap/Smith if our current stable of PF's continue to develope and get better. I really think Howard is the only guy you could upgrade but with Asik playing the way he is and at that price I wouldnt put to much into Howard. I am just throwing this out there but who will we persue if Asik/Monte/Robinson or Jones continue to show improvement and unity/chemistry (which is very inportant..ask L.A.)..?
A decent number of those Ilyasova jumpshots were pure garbage, he was just feeling it last night... Hard to blame someone's D when the guy is making off balance long twos and such... He just couldn't miss.
I think we would shore up our bench to improve depth and keep our starters from having to carry such a heavy load. Just keep signing short term deals until we know what we've got in all 5 starters. Preserve cap space and wait for true superstar/franchise level players to become available.
I missed the second half, but watched the first on a real tv - not a stream. I thought his defense was pretty damn good. He continually helped on the pnr and was able to get back quickly. He wasn't perfect and had some missteps, but his activity was very good. I'm guessing he got gassed in the second half.
