Judging by his performance this season including a ridiculous post season to boot, is CP3 the best PG in the league right now? Would he be regarded as a top 10, if not top 5 talent already? The guy is just amazing. I EASILY rank him as the best PG in the league and id go as far to say he is a top 3 player behind Kobe and Lebron. The guy can do it all. He scores the ball at will when he wants to, he cant set his team mates up like no other atm and finally, something a lot of PG's lack these days, he plays DEFENSE. Is he the best already? How good do you think he can be? When its all said and done, what NBA great can we compare him to? PS. The guy ONLY turns 23 tomorrow !?!?
He's easily the best PG in the league. He just had arguably the single greatest year of any PG in NBA History (including Magic). He can do it all. He is completely demolishing the Spurs right now. In my book, he's right up there with LeBron and Kobe.
Yea I think so He's one level above Nash and D Will at this point. Kinda like how Kobe is a level above Paul Pierce and Mcgrady.
How would you say he compares to th great PGs of our time? The Kidd's the Nash's. Lets even go back to the Stockton's and the Payton's? Is he already there? Or does he still have a ways to go? How much further can he go? There is plenty to discuss my friend.
He is the best PG in the league right now...bar none. As far as comparing him to the all-time greats.....all he needs to do right now is win.....he's a complete player (passing, scoring, great defense and high BB IQ) What makes a player great is how he makes the game look so effortless.....and he's doing this against the defending champs.
I have a hard time thinking of ANY PG since Magic who was this good. Obviously guys like Isiah Thomas have had a much better career than Paul. But at their absolute peaks, I don't think anyone is one Paul's level outside of Magic. Was Jason Kidd this good? Was Gary Payton this good? Was Steve Nash this good? Was John Stockton this good? Was Kevin Johnson this good? Although it's arguable, I don't think any of these guys were ever on Paul's level.
this dude is for real. he is picking apart the spurs defense at will. he can do it all too and thats gotta count for something.
What about at this stage in their careers? 3rd year players, 22 years old? I guess it is hard to compare because they played in such different eras, but if we had to pick one, who was the better 3rd year player?
Check this Out... There is a stat called PER (Player Efficiency Rating) that tries to put into context how great a players year was. The Highest Single Season PER was by Wilt Chamberlain in 1963, he scored a 31.84. The Highest Single Season PER for a Guard (Point/Shooting) is by Jordan, 31.71 in 1988. Chris Paul had a PER of 28.31 this year, which is the Best EVER by a PG. Magic's career high was a PER of 27.0 in 1987. CP3 had a historically significant season. I'm not gonna say he's better than Magic. Magic was arguably the most consistent Superstar in NBA History. He delivered year after year after year after year. If CP3 can continue what he's doing until 2014, THEN he might have an argument for being called the Best PG Ever (it would also help if he won a couple of NBA Titles). Although I won't call him better than Magic... I do think he's better than any other PG in NBA History.
I think he is. But Deron Williams isn't too far behind. Paul's killer instinct and edge serperates him from Williams. Hopefully he stays humble though
anyone who makes the spurs look like fools is alight by me. the hornets are the only team in the west that i don't have complete dislike for...maybe it's because of the short history in the west, but i would love to see them crush everyone. well, look at the choices....spurs, lakers, jazz, celtics...i'm guessing all true rocket fans are pulling for a hornets championship at this point.
chris paul is the best pg in the league period but when comparing him to guards in the past it's important to remember that you can't even blow on a perimeter player anymore... chris paul is practically unguardable without the ability to hand check.
Yeah if the hand check rule was eliminated it would really change the game overall of today's NBA. I really wish either (1) they would allow the hand check or (2) I could have seen how good some of the NBA greats were with the rule. 1 is not going to happen and 2 is impossible. Sucks. Chris Paul is a borderline cheap-shot player, but he's really good, no denying that. I think in a 1 vs. 1 matchup the only one who could beat him is Deron Williams, but overall, CP3 is a better PG and the best in the league today. Best ever? No.
I personally do not like CP3 but it is really hard to argue with the results. Look Nash and Magic and others made plays that I like better. Behind the back, no look, and Nash has the best on the run bounce passes I have ever seen and did not think possible. He can stutter step or go in a full speed run/leap kinda thing and deliver a perfect bounce pass directly to a cutter to the basket down the lane. CP3 does more alley-oops and SF3 type circus shots. I think he better evolve his game a little if he expects to keep it on top but for right now THIS SEASON he is incredible.
Nevermind the best PG in the league argument, the better argument is how he is ranked in the best player in the league discussion. My top three list: 1) Kobe 2) LeBron 3) CP3 No disrespect to Paul but I don't think he's as physically dominant, athletically gifted or overall prepared to dominate a game at any given moment the way Kobe or LeBron is. It will be interesting to see how this plays out since this is Paul's first real chance to prove he can be as clutch as both of these guys.
