The assumption I am making here is that Yao is able to begin the year and play at least 25 productive minutes a night.

    Chicago
    Starters: Noah, Deng, Rose
    Assets:???

    Houston
Starters: Yao, Scola, Ariza, Martin, Brooks.
Assets: Lowry, Battier, Hill, CBud, picks

Admittedly I dont know too much about the other Bulls on the roster but when I look at the 2 teams I just dont see how you can look at Chicago and say they have that much better of a team than we do. Rose is better than Brooks. Yao would have to be way below expectations to not be better than Noah who has also had his share of injuries as well. And deng is good but not particularly impressive although he would almost certainly be involved in any S&T. We can essentially trade away our entire bench, and each of these guys actually has value, without even touching our starting rotation. Not saying we would just saying we could and there is no way Chicago can. Throw in the fact that we have good picks, the only real question mark on the team is Yao and he will be a FA next year so if he is hurt we lose nothing. I know this is all pieces of things that have been talked about before, im just tired of watching this same ESPN report that Chicago has BY FAR the best young core that one of these big FA can join and win with right away. thoughts? and try to keep the homering to a minimum, i actually enjoy the realistic approach myself. and yes i know ESPN is on the nuts of at least 5 cities and houston is WAYYYY down that list, so save that answer.

Chicago would probably be better if they managed to get James and Bosh. The only way to do that is somehow get rid of Deng without taking back salary (good luck, Bulls). James/Bosh/Rose/Noah is pretty good though, probably better than what Houston would have with just Bosh.

But Chicago with just LeBron or Bosh isn't really any better than Houston with just Bosh, IMO.

Probably a better city to live in for an athlete though.

And Rose is better than anyone we have on the roster right now.

I'd like to think we're better than Chicago w/ out Lebron.

It's not really about Chicago though. It's about Bosh following wherever Lebron or Wade goes. We will have to convince him otherwise.

    Really?

I've never been to Chicago, but the many NBA players who aren't from this area and make Houston their offseason home would strongly disagree with you.

    Houston 42-40 no Yao
    Chicago 41-41

If Chicago gets Lebron, they look to be a better team, but Rockets have are better spot without.

Don't forget that they only won 41 games in the east and we won 42 in the west, because it's a big difference. Had we played in the east we would have won about 3 or 4 more games IMO. And we would've made the playoffs.

Yes if they land LeBron or Wade. They only finished 1 game behind us and both of those players are better than Yao.

Rose/Lebron/Deng/Noah/Gibson is the only better situation for Bosh than Houston.

I'd be jealous of the Bulls if they pulled that off, but it would be fun to watch them under Thibs.

If Bosh really wants to win, I think it will come down to us and Chicago. Lebron probably comes down to Cleveland/Chicago/New Jersey, so I think we really need to hope Lebron doesn't choose Chicago.

Then Miami, New York, and maybe the Nets can fight over Boozer and Amare. I think at least a couple of teams are going to be pretty devastated with the aftermath from all of this.

I think Houston, with Yao, is better than Chicago with or without Bosh. Question is, who else can Chicago attract in free agency?

If Chicago signed Bosh, they'd still have 14 million to sign other players. We have the MLE.

other than what we have on the court...i think people also forget whats on our bench... and that's our COACHING STAFF.

You've got a couple of possibilities in BIG NAME FA destinations: NY, CHI, CLE, MIA, and HOU.

    NY - D'Antoni - .544 winning% (2 trips to conf. finals)

Chi - Thibodeau- no record (first head coaching job)

Cle - Byron Scott - .498 winning% (does have 2 nba finals appearances)

    Mia - Spolstra - .549 winning % (2nd round virgin)

Hou - Adelman - .609 winning% (2 trips to the NBA Finals and 2 trips to Conf Finals)

I think coaching may play a part in where Bosh and others sign as well..

...also wanted to add that Adelman's won more 1460 games in his coaching career.

Others coaches have 1125 wins ALL COMBINED!

chicago has a strong core in rose, noah, and taj gibson that is young and on the rise

houston on the other hand has a strong group of role players with two injury plagued stars yao and kevin martin.

everyone probably thinks yao is on the decline (which he may or may not be) and everyone knows the bull players will get better, so that is why chicago is the safer bet

    lol...No doubt.

Our oldest lives in Chicago and the hardest thing for him to get used to was the winters. Multiple feet of snow for months on end.

The supposed humidity problems in Houston is VASTLY overblown.

    Houston

    Chicago

    Miami

check the charts....Houston isnt that much more humid than Chicago or Miami.

If James goes to Chicago then its a no-brainer but that doesn't look so certain now. If he doesn't, the Rox would be right there with the Bulls.

I dont even think Weather would play much of a role for Bosh. He spent the last 7 years or so in Toronto and he's from Dallas. Dallas gets just as hot as it does in Houston. Climate shouldnt be a deciding factor for CB4.

BTW...if we resign Scola, and we do end up getting Bosh...i wonder who would wear #4...
