No..... And we are probably not even getting Carmelo...... Just keep working and see where the chips fall. DD
I see it as we need to make a all-out move now. If Carmelo is that all out move so be it. Yao Ming's condition is deteriorating every season. I like Morey and all, and his low-risk trades have helped us in the long-run. But I feel Morey needs to change his mentality to all or nothing.
I know. That how I make dead pan comedy. Its not very funny. It comes off as more sarcastic. I am working on it though
Yao Ming is going to retire in the next 2-3 years. I don't think Houston will resign Melo to a max if we do get him in a trade. Martin is getting old. Battier is getting old. Miller is already old. Considering AB stays on the team, he'll be all-star level at his very best and that's all. He can't carry a team. Jermaine Taylor is kind of iffy on his potential. It's unpredictable how he'll turn out. Budinger has a low ceiling. Rotational player at best. Patrick Patterson's potential is unknown at the moment... I think after Yao goes down the Rockets WILL rebuild.
Morey is always stockpiling assets. I dont think we will ever run out of second round role player gems. We just might not ever have the Mellow types.
I beg to differ. Jared Jeffries and Jermaine Taylor are pretty mellow for not getting enough playing time.
Martin is pretty young actually. He just turned 27 in Feb. And if Yao stays healthy, I say we have a decent chance to contend this year.
He's our best hope for this season, and perhaps the first couple of seasons after the new CBA kicks in. He's our best hope for a championship with Yao. But this team will look radically different in five years regardless of whatever happens with Carmelo.
On top of getting a superstar we get a player at our biggest position of need. Hell yes we need melo!
You didn't give me a simple "NO" option, so I'll simply not vote in the poll and say no here. NO! The Rockets need a healthy team for the length of the season and the playoffs to make a championship run. We have the talent, the coach, the system, an owner willing to spend more than most, and a GM who may be the best in the league. I think he'll continue to upgrade our talent this year, but even if he doesn't, I like the chances of a healthy Rockets team, the team with who we have now. They may not be enough to win a championship. Who can really know? But they are enough to make a run, and right now, that's enough for me. And I didn't like your poll.
I've always laughed whenever someone posts "we need a superstar player." Such a blank statement. I'm not denying he would help, but as soon as we got Melo people would be saying we need a superstar PG. This team has a lot of potential as it currently stands.
